Honestly now, does this kind of stuff happen in other countries? This is like a bad South Park episode.

Yes, a Norwegian man ran around and killed five people with a crossbow in the town Kongsberg in Norway in July 2011 – the method and choice of weapon might seem familiar to Norwegians...:whistling:

Some homicidal maniac in Norway killed five people and wounded several others in October of 2021. He used a bow and arrows and knives.

Alot of guys fall in love with the idea of being in love. And they devote their heart to a woman who is undeserving. So, the best course of action, if to take you time to get to know her. Time allows clarity. If it is good it will only get better. If there are problems (such as the ones you are describing), they will manifest themselves over time. This is why you do not allow yourself to get emotionally invested, until you know who she is. That takes a year, or two, or longer. If she shows you she is not worthy of your affection, and attention, you walk away. Man up. Pay tribute to your gender. Show yourself some self respect. Do not allow yourself to be abused, and treated like a street dog. Just walk away and don't behave like a desperate fool.

Not everyone has those types of women.

You need to take part of the blame though for choosing poorly.

And surely there must be some red flags before the cycle of completely bleeding your dry has time to take its course?

Carl Jung, and interesting insights into woman.  essentially they are driven by their collective unconscious and can not think rationally.  i tend to agree.  basically all of them are predators.  as long as the males projects false ideals onto their persona they are doomed. avoid at all cost, life is short.  follow the 3 day rule.

There's some weird kinks these days, but crossbow 3 ways is a new one. Anyways sounds like a classic case of broken marriage (quite possibly both of them were culpable, drunk man and cheating woman, chicken and the egg!), trapped himself by sunk cost fallacy and wasn't willing to walk away to social housing in Norway and now will be seeing out his time in Surat Thani Prison with the Spanish Butcher from KPG for company

A very, very weak maniac. Real men display dignity if a relationship is not working out. Thanks for the good times and have a great life. I am out of here. See you.

Life can be quite frustrating here for some individuals, and some obviously being eaten up inside out when they realize the paradise they once believed in, do not exist.

Not to forget many carry luggage with from before, and with mental health challenges the frustration can escalate especially if have an or more addictions as well. Economically the situation have changed alot for those elderly who once felt they had a good pension, seing the stronger baht eating up their founds as well.

Relationship problems, and maybe jealousy as it can seem to be here with addiction maybe ?

What do you think?

As said before, I do not think this was the first time he went crazy.

There a lot of elderly farang and we are all getting more elderly every day. Mental health issues are just as prevalent as physical health issues. I’m sure my own mental health will deteriorate over time.

In addition the Thai social structures are very different to those in the West. It’s very easy to just drift into drinking every day away and becoming very embittered.

Just my own observations as I contemplate life over 70 years of age.

Should have had a laser. You wouldn’t have missed and may still be in jail even today.

THis reminds me of  an expression back in Oz - "gone Troppo" - which basically those who've moved from the comfort of the  suburbs of Melbourne, Sydney etc to the tropical north e.g. Darwin. After while the climate gets to them. They discard their clothes, clad themselves in speedos, singlet and thongs and sit around beer in hand, not doing much else apart from the odd drunken brawl - they regress to a primitive lifestyle and concomitant behaviour.

I meet a couple from Norway years ago in Karon beach. Both was nice and polite. The same day the lady knocked on my door. Her bf had beated her up badly.I went to the police with her and her bf was charged 2000 baht and told to move to another hotel. The next day i meet this guy and we had some beers together.I asked where his gf was and he said she went to the beach.I didn't mention anything about what i knew. That night he smacked her down in the street and some thais resqued her.

The police arrested him and not to my surprise he was out on the streets again the next day.

I didn't talk with that guy again but i meet his gf and she told me they travel to Thailand for celebrating their engagement.I left Karon so i don't know what happened to them after i left.

As a 47 year when I moved here, I believe I know what was coming, even I still traveled back and forth everyb3 month or, I knew it would be challenging over time or by the time, so I decided to live like home. Weekdays, weekends, and holidays. Get up in the morning and pretend every weekday was like home.

One way I succeeded, but still became restless.

Anyway, I'm still pretty much in the same routine, but there is a limit how much you constantly have to or can reignite the same spirit over and over again and again.

Luckily I'm not to keen to drink to heavily or smoke at all.

A Norwegian man has been arrested at the main bus terminal in Surat Thani after allegedly attempting to murder a fellow national with a crossbow in an incident that took place on the island of Koh Samui.

The suspect, identified as Mr Elmer, was taken into custody by officers from Surat Thani City Police while trying to flee the province by minivan. His arrest followed the issue of an arrest warrant by Koh Samui Provincial Court (Warrant No. 185/2568, dated 23 June 2025) on charges of attempted murder.

The incident occurred on 19 June at a private residence in Koh Samui. According to police, Ms Pia, a Norwegian national and the intended victim, was inside the home along with another man, identified only as Mr Simon and she was watching a film on the living room sofa. Mr Elmer, meanwhile, was in his bedroom, reportedly heavily intoxicated from alcohol.

Suddenly, Mr Elmer emerged from his room in a state of rage and began shouting incoherently. He confronted Ms Pia and a heated argument ensued. Fearing for her safety due to his aggressive behaviour, Ms Pia attempted to call the police. As she dialled the emergency number 191, Elmer briefly returned to his room.

Moments later, he reappeared wielding a crossbow fitted with a laser sight and aimed it directly at Ms Pia’s head. As she was on the phone with the police, Elmer fired. The bolt struck her mobile phone, which she was holding to her ear, destroying it but sparing her life. Mr Simon tried to intervene but was unable to stop the attack.

Following the incident, Elmer fled the scene. A manhunt ensued, leading to his arrest four days later, on 23 June, at the Surat Thani Bus Terminal as he attempted to board transport out of the province.

The authorities have praised the swift action of investigating officers, noting that had the phone not absorbed the crossbow bolt, the consequences could have been fatal. Elmer is currently being held in custody and is expected to face prosecution.
