Norwegian tourist, 21, is barred from entering the US after ICE guards find JD Vance Meme

Featured Replies

Yes, US visa applicants for certain non-immigrant visas, specifically F, M, and J visas, are required to make their social media accounts public for vetting purposes, according to the US embassy in Thailand. This includes adjusting privacy settings to "public" on all platforms used in the past five years. Additionally, applicants must provide all social media usernames or handles from the past five years.

If you are going to mock the VP (JD Vance with a bald head) on your phone and you are NOT an American, well, don't be surprised if people working under this person reject you.

It's common sense, people.

America could likely take your laptop, phone, etc, and find everything you ever posted or deleted, etc.....save for some pretty savvy IT people.   However, these "savvy" IT people who know how to scrub information will also likely be banned because they are clearly hiding something.  LOL.  Lose-Lose.   America doesn't need a reason to reject you.  You paid for the flight, and you want to visit.  lol.

This is why I record every conversation with a farang.  One bad word about America, well, the CIA is already listening as well.   Banned for life!!! lol

So they throw you in a cell.   Nice.   What if you are 18 and tell people, I don't have any socials?   I'm not sure how that will work.

Can America access your emails?  Again, if you say NO, you might simply get banned and sent back home.

Soon AI will instantly change all your socials to be more "Pro-American," and then another AI click will send it all back to normal.  Then immigration will catch up....

I do agree 100%.  If you don't like America at all, you have no business going there.   We're paying $100 for eggs and stressed enough as it is.

What if you like roughly 50% of the US, just like most Americans? Are you welcome then?

Only if you are an American.  If you like 99% of Russia you go to jail and might be killed.  Prob. same with China.  Maybe the same with Myranmar.  Who knows?  Citizens get those rights, not clowns coming off a plane trying to be influencers.

get your green card, then we'll talk.

now hand over your phone.

The land of the free!

Mikkelsen claimed the officials threatened him with a $5,000 fine or five years in prison if he refused to give the password to his mobile device and that, after he relented and it was scrutinized, he was sent back to Norway

Norwegian Tourist Claims U.S. Denied Him Entry Over a J.D. Vance Meme. Authorities Said It Was His Drug Use

Two pictures spoiled Mads’ dream vacation,” read a headline from Norwegian newspaper Nordlys on Monday, which was amplified by British tabloid the Daily Mail on Tuesday.

Please go back there then and leave us normal people alone to enjoy the rest of the world without you.  Last one in pull up the drawbridge.

Lesse majeste law for JD Vance?

Totally insane!

Border officials work to uphold the law and the constitution.

They shouldn't be working to enforce loyalty to any political leader.

I consider any American that thinks this is OK as an American who has lost their way.

Who is going to make us? Your country exists because we are nice.

Would you let a person in who happily posted pics of Homosexuals getting tossed off roofs in Muslim countries on his Social Media feed?

How many folks enter the USA every day? How many are excluded? Much ado about nothing from the usual bunch of folks suffering from Trump derangement.

It really is tragic. One guy with a cult following turning the US into a p**s ant banana republic with mouth-breathing Gestapo like border guards.

Can we make a deal with the expat MAGA fanboys? If you go back to the US we promise we won't come visit you. Deal?

Your title "Norwegian tourist, 21, is barred from entering the US after ICE guards find JD Vance Meme" left out the words "allegedly" and "claimed the tourist" on his Instagram and Facebook accounts.

The other side of the story:

CBP said in a post on X that “Mads Mikkelsen was not denied entry for any memes or political reasons, it was for his admitted drug use.”

https://time.com/7297472/jd-vance-meme-mads-mikkelsen-tourist-denied-entry-cbp-ice/

It's technically true he was denied entry after border agents found the meme, but it's equally true that the agents denied entry after they ate breakfast prior to their daily shift.

FALSE. MISINFORMATION   “Mads Mikkelsen was not denied entry for any memes or political reasons, it was for his admitted drug use.”

Shhhhhhh.. we're enjoying the fake news consumers/irrational Trump haters latching on to yet another hoax and screaming at the sky. Nxt stop, they deny they ever believed such a ridiculous story and grab the next hoax like a drownung man grabbing a buoy. Hilarious🤣

I've always found it curious how certain American expatriates, those who ceaselessly extol the unparalleled virtues of the U.S., choose to live permanently in Thailand. One might wonder: if their homeland is indeed the apex of civilization, what prevents their triumphant return? Perhaps it's the inconvenient reality that repatriation would mean both a stark reduction in romantic prospects and a confrontation with the consequences of poor financial planning. In truth, it’s difficult to find anyone deeply enmeshed in the nationalist echo chamber who appears to be winning at life, unless, of course, you define "winning" as shouting into the void while nursing a Chang or Leo.

There is some truth in what you are saying, but it should be case-by-case.    Let's use myself.

private school, BA, Master's degree, 20 years of work experience.  Zero alcohol for three years. Still have roots back home, currently selling a house in the NE that will go for a pretty penny.  Parents took the family out of America every summer for 12 years as a kid.  Plus all the sports camps and summer camps, and trips to NYC to see a play Off-Broadway.

America gave me everything.  Love that place.  There's zero percent chance I'd get as "lucky" in another country.  Zero.  I'm 100% sure.  So, yes, I'll keep hyping up USA.  Where else can you get $10k USD every Christmas as a bonus and not be happy?  One year was $20k, still wasn't enough.  Of course, there's plenty of time to enjoy the spoils and be happy, but there's plenty of time to get that cash.

I had a job where they put me up in a 2.5 million dollar house for a summer.  That was in 2010.  Now it's probably 100 million.  lol.  They gave me a Lexus to drive.  This is America.  If the rich like you, they take care of you.   I have about five stories like this.  I've been in a lot of private planes, but never a jet.  small planes, but good enough to go cross-country.

America is massive, has absolutely everything.   I didn't grow up in a slum, so I only have my experiences.   I spent time in Hawaii and So. Cal back before the 2008 crash.  I've seen butlers, private golf clubs, nice stuff, but not enough Upper Class stuff to know that lifestyle.  Just some glimpses.

Internet.  I can watch every American Football game, MLB, NHL, NBA, whatever.....and I called America just 10 minutes ago.

I do think nobody from America should live in Thailand until they are at least 40.  If they are super rich, fine.  Visit, of course.  Not live.  Not until you are at least 40.  or 45.

yes, America was the apex.  Probably still would be FOR ME if I grew up there now.  I believe in myself.  I don't have the energy to worry about everyone else.  On a relative basis, yeah, no other country even comes close.  America would be 100, and the next country would be like a 70.  You can debate the happiness metric all you want.....I don't buy into any of that garbage.  Proud is the metric.  Are you proud of your past???  if so, you have a deeper happiness. If not, not my problem.  fix it.  or not.  Your problem.  lol.  America will give you every opportunity, but you'd better want it and know how to put the work in.  You don't win championships by being soft.  America competes in everything.  It's not for everyone.  That's fine, go and enjoy your noodle soup.  America can be overwhelming for some, not my problem.  We have been fighting since the 1500s.  We have a backbone.  We aren't going to get bullied.  We won't back down.  Yeah, it's a lot to handle.

No other place rewards hard work.  No other place rewards great students.  Google would laugh at me if I were a software engineer and applied, I get that.  I'll never be in the upper echelon.  I tried, didn't make it that far.  There's no Google here, or anywhere else except America.  America has 100s of Google-like companies.  Kids from poor families can make it to Google, get life-changing money.  Poor kids can play sports and get super rich.  99% don't, but it's not like they get nothing.  There are a zillion levels.   I started out at $6 an hour and within a year was making $50k a year.  This was way, way back.   In another two years, it went to $85k.  No other country seems to ramp up salaries at will.

USA, all day.  I hope everyone loves their country as much as I love America.  If not, not my problem.  lol
