Don't use a phone wallet. Very insecure & not necessary at all. I have NEVER used my CC to pay for anything in 30 years in Thailand except for the occasional larger hospital bill. I ALWAYS use cash, always. I'm also part of a campaigning group against cashless society. My personal main target is that we'll known coffee chain Starf#£ks.

Your fears are unfounded. There will never be a cashless society.

Have you seen what happens when payment systems collapse on an average afternoon? It's chaos and loss all round. I have witnessed it and the outage lasted for days. In a hi-tech country. Cash solved the issue - there will always be cash. I managed to pay cash for my supermarket purchases. Dozens of others had to start unloading their trolleys or leaving them at the check out. People are still hoarding old local currencies decades after the introduction of the cash euro.

They'll (we'll) always have some euros on hand and the old currencies are still valid valuta. It's  also in no government's interest to ban cash - even if they'd like to do it for obvious reasons.

It is totally in the governments interest to "ban" cash

they seek total control  over their (slaves)  citizens  and the cashless digital panopticon is the ultimate solution for them to achieve their evil objective....remember "you will own nothing and be happy"

True  wallet is available for foreigners. Now with major cineplex the following is available. I personally scan a QR code.

At Major Cineplex in Thailand, movie tickets can be purchased using a variety of digital payment methods, including online through the Major Cineplex website or app, at e-ticket vending machines, or via QR codes, e-wallets, mobile banking, and electronic cards like credit or debit cards.

Actually the less you own the freer you are - things aren't called the 'trappings' of life for nothing.

Honestly, there will never be a cashless society except in science fiction writers' or conspiracy theorists' minds

IIRC the only thing you can't do is link to your bank account so, unless you have a Thai credit (or possibly debit) card, you have to top-up using cash.

You cannot link a bank account with TrueMoney, but you CAN top up your TrueMoney wallet balance from your mobile banking app. That's what I always do, I've never topped it up with cash.

I've saved my TrueMoney wallet number as a favorite, takes seconds to top up.

Can the True Money virtual credit card be used in for example Google Pay?

TrueMoneyWallet is definitely available to foreigners https://www.truemoney.com/foreigner/ I've had it for many years.

Click the Register button on that link for instructions on how to make it work.

Of course, if you have a Thai bank account you can use the scan-to-pay function on their app.

Only in Thai language on that link.....

Not tried yet, if it's  mastercard or visa should be no problem

Yes. It's a virtual debit card though, not a virtual credit card.

Google Translate is your friend.

BUT

Things seem to have changed for the worse, that page is now password protected (huh) and crashes if I use my TrueMoney password.

Most odd.
