the resort owner reported the suspiciously prolonged stay of the foreign guest

Makes little sense at all, lets see if we can lose a good long term paying customer by having him deported - how can we possibly lose 🤣

If only some other countries I could mention would deal with undocumenteds in a similar way.

Well done to the woman for ratting him.  I wonder what he did to get this treatment though, maybe he wasn't paying his rent, maybe, well, maybe dozens of things.   Maybe there was a reward for the woman to do the ratting.

Makes little sense why they waited 388 long days before reporting him. Hotels have a responsibility to check passport & visa status of customers and report to authorities.

I doubt he was staying in many hotels.  Probably rented an apartment/condo when he was legal and just stayed there.

You prefer to let criminals that have no respect for the law to stay in the country.  hmm...

Well, that's also a thing I don't get. If he has the money to stay in a resort, why didn't he renew his visa or do a border run or any of the other options?

Yes Thailand has the correct attitude on this, that being if in Thailand illegally, deport them.

Unlike the UK where if there illegally, put them up in nice hotel and give them everything, like food, clothes, medical, phone and an allowance! :whistling:

Yawn.

Another miscreant caught, locked up in the squalid conditions of the IDC, deported and banned for 10 years. 🎯

Well done Thai Immigration Police! :clap2:

Very loose definition of 'Resort' used here.

It is often used in Thailand to describe sheltered housing, not as you would imagine like a holiday resort, or even a short term love motel which is often referred to as the same. There are loads of these places throughout the country, and they can be very cheap places to stay long term.

'Resort' is certainly a stretch, as they are standing in the carport area.   More like short time hotel, or worker's quarters room.   Basic rental box.  Might only be 2 or 3k baht a month, if that.

You assume he was a good long term paying customer

I would not be surprised if he has a few outstanding bench warrants back home as well.  Probably thought laying low in Srisaket no one would bother with him.

Would that be the Black Irish in him showing

He pissed someone off and they turned him in. Have to be nice to the staff if you are illegal overstaying. 😎
