Popular Post JAG Posted 4 hours ago Popular Post Posted 4 hours ago Nothing. As will the vast majority of Thais, who recognise it as irrelevant posturing by a political and military class who have no interest in them, and understand that they are merely using it as an excuse to make yet another attempt to impose themselves as an unelected government. Nor for the most part will the largely conscript, immobile and basically untrained army - apart from anything they don't have the transport to get anywhere near the "conflict zone" and wouldn't have a clue what to do if/when they got there, nor the logistical facilities to maintain them in the field. What are they going to do, mount a counterattack "off the line of march" moving in requisitioned school tour buses, equipped with whatever they can carry in their pockets? "Recce move now, there is a tuk tuk waiting outside!" As for getting aircraft up in 5 minutes... 1 4 1 2
Popular Post FolkGuitar Posted 4 hours ago Popular Post Posted 4 hours ago Watch and wait for it to finish. Like Phil Ochs said; 'I ain't marching any more.' 'Now the labor leader's screamin' when they close the missile plants United Fruit screams at the Cuban shore Call it peace or call it treason Call it love or call it reason But I ain't a-marching anymore No, I ain't a-marching anymore It's always the old to lead us to the wars Always the young to fall Now look at all we've won with the saber and the gun Tell me is it worth it all?' 2 1
atpeace Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago It would be contained to the border because both countries for the most part don't have the military might to invade. Thailand is much more powerful and could bomb cities but assume they would only do this if Cambodia was successful at creating catastrophic issues along the border which I doubt. 1

The choices are too limited in this survey. Why flee? It is not like any war with Cambodia would be to take over the country. Also, why volunteer to fight? Most people in this forum are either too old or have fled from other countries that are at war. Then of course your other option. Sit back and watch the men defend the country is the most ridiculous. What men? Do you really think the army here or citizens would be any good at fighting a war? If it came to the average citizen, they would flee any conflict unless supported by many others. We all know Thais do not start a fight unless they can outnumber you. 1 2 1

When I first got to Bangkok in 2011, I noticed some bullet holes in some of the stainless pedestrian railings across some pedestrian overpasses. Turns out they were stray bullets from the kerfuffles on the streets a few years earlier. When the bullets start flying, nobody's safe. 1 1

Exactly, last time I sat on the veranda with my daughter who was visiting me from quiet safe Germany and we listened enthralled to the artillery firing a few kilometers away.
connda Posted 55 minutes ago Posted 55 minutes ago I don't think Cambodia has its sights set on Lanna.
