Not sure what being Tory has to do with him quiting. But that's not enough, this needs to go right to the very top. The BBC chairman, Samir Shah. He should never have been appointed in the first place and his lack of leadership now is obvious.

Unlikely for something like this, as the Chairman does not have any operational or editorial control of the organisation.  Let's see what the outcome of the Ofcom report is.

I wouldn't be sad to see the ineffectual Shah go, especially as it would allow Labour to appoint his replacement.

 

I just don't think the 'crime' merits it, as it was an operational decision to not cut the broadcast.

Whoever was heading the programme that day was in charge and could have pulled the plug immediatly leaving the screen blank till a feed was brought back and programme back on Air, they did neither so who ever was in charge that day and who made the decistion to carry on filming him should be asked why he  let it carry on.
