Emergency crews are battling a fire that broke out on 30 June, at a tissue paper factory located in Hemaraj Industrial Estate, Soi 8, Nong Khae District, Saraburi Province. The incident, first reported just before midday, has sent thick black smoke billowing into the sky, causing alarm across the area and prompting a major emergency response.

According to an urgent alert posted by the volunteer rescue group “Sawang Rattanatrai Saraburi” via their official Facebook page, several individuals are believed to be trapped inside the burning facility. The exact number of those still inside remains unclear, but rescue workers are currently operating under high-pressure conditions to find and rescue anyone still within the premises.

Footage from the scene shows plumes of dense smoke visible from a considerable distance, with fire engines, rescue teams, and ambulances flooding the industrial zone in a desperate attempt to gain control of the blaze and save lives. Authorities have appealed to the public to keep roads clear and allow priority access for emergency vehicles.

Local residents and factory workers have gathered outside the facility, anxiously awaiting news of their loved ones. Many of them have spoken of hearing loud explosions prior to seeing flames and smoke engulf parts of the factory building.

Firefighters are reportedly encountering challenges due to the highly flammable nature of the materials inside the factory, which primarily produces various tissue and hygiene paper products.

A massive fire has engulfed a tissue paper factory in the Hemaraj Industrial Estate, located in Soi 8, Nong Khae District, Saraburi Province, with at least 10 workers reported missing and the blaze still not under control.

The incident began at approximately 12:00. According to a report from the “Sawang Rattanatrai Saraburi Rescue Foundation”, a towering column of thick black smoke quickly filled the skies above the factory, as flames tore through the warehouse containing highly flammable paper products.

Despite the rapid deployment of multiple fire trucks and water tankers, firefighters have struggled to contain the inferno. The nature of the materials stored in the facility has significantly hindered containment efforts, as tissue paper acts as an intense accelerant, feeding the flames rapidly.

Preliminary reports indicate that 10 workers are unaccounted for, and their fate remains unknown. Rescue teams are continuing to search the site under hazardous and dangerous conditions.

At 15:00 the situation remained critical, with fire still burning fiercely within the structure. Authorities have yet to confirm the exact number of casualties, though reports suggest there may be multiple fatalities. Investigations are ongoing, and the number of confirmed injuries and deaths is still being verified.

UPDATE
Massive Fire Engulfs Saraburi Tissue Paper Factory: Reports of Possible 6 Dead

Pictures from responders.

A devastating blaze broke out at a tissue paper manufacturing plant in Saraburi province on 30 June, leaving at least 10 workers unaccounted for and many others injured, with emergency services from multiple provinces deployed in a desperate bid to rescue survivors and contain the inferno.

Emergency services were alerted by a security guard at River Pulp & Paper Co., Ltd., located within Hemaraj Industrial Estate, Soi 8, in the Bua Loi subdistrict of Nong Khae district. The fire quickly intensified, consuming large areas of the facility, which houses vast quantities of flammable paper products.

Over 50 fire engines and rescue units from local municipalities, neighbouring provinces and charitable foundations including Sawang Rattana Thammasathan, Poh Teck Tung, Ruamkatanyu, and others rushed to the scene. Despite their efforts, the flames spread rapidly due to highly combustible materials inside the warehouse.

Saraburi Governor Banchat Chawarin, accompanied by provincial disaster officials and Nong Khae District Chief Santhat Randawa, was present at the scene to oversee rescue operations and coordinate inter-agency support. According to factory management, 10 office employees, believed to have been working on the second and third floors, were unable to evacuate and remain unaccounted for. Unofficial reports from emergency responders have indicated that 6 bodies have been located within the premises, but so far they have only been able to recover one body from the premises.

Emergency crews struggled to control the fire. While partial containment was eventually achieved, the situation remains dangerous due to collapsing floors and unstable structures within the burning warehouse.

Medical teams from Nong Khae, Nong Saeng, and Sao Hai hospitals established a field triage centre near the factory to treat victims. 26 workers have been injured, with 4 in a critical condition and all have rushed to different hospitals in the region. One female employee reportedly jumped from the third floor to escape the flames, sustaining injuries to her legs but managing to walk to a waiting ambulance.

Firefighters reported severe challenges accessing the upper floors due to structural collapses, especially on the second and third levels, where damage is extensive. Search and rescue teams were forced to withdraw temporarily and are awaiting clearance to safely re-enter.

Governor Banchat confirmed that search teams have been assigned and are on standby to re-enter the site once the fire is fully under control. “The situation is grave. We are prioritising the safety of our personnel and the urgent need to locate the missing workers,” he said.

Authorities have since mobilised extensive resources, including support units from Nakhon Pathom, Ayutthaya, Sing Buri, Nakhon Nayok, Prachinburi and several districts of Bangkok.

A command centre has been established at the site, and operations are continuing into the night. Emergency crews remain on high alert amid concerns of further collapses within the compromised structure.

Saraburi: Eight Confirmed Dead, Two Still Missing After Inferno at Tissue Factory

Picture from responders.

In a devastating industrial disaster, eight workers have been confirmed dead and two others remain unaccounted for following a major fire that tore through a tissue paper factory in Nong Khae district, Saraburi.

The blaze, which broke out at a facility producing tissue paper, rapidly consumed large parts of the building due to the highly flammable materials inside. According to initial reports, ten employees were trapped inside the office area on the second and third floors when the fire erupted. Despite the immediate response from emergency services and hours of relentless firefighting, the fire could not be brought under control before claiming multiple lives.

Fire crews were hampered by dense paper stockpiles that fuelled the flames and by dangerous structural instability as parts of the building’s floors began to collapse. Rescue operations were further delayed due to the intense heat and unsafe conditions inside the plant. Authorities were forced to focus on extinguishing the fire before they could safely enter the building in search of the missing.

Once the fire was brought under partial control, emergency responders recovered eight charred bodies from the wreckage. The identities of the deceased have not yet been confirmed, pending forensic investigation. Two workers are still missing, and the search continues under increasingly difficult conditions.

In response to the incident, local officials established a command centre at the scene to coordinate rescue, recovery, and support efforts. Lists of missing

Investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire, but early indications suggest it began in an office area. The presence of flammable materials allowed the fire to spread with alarming speed through the upper levels of the factory.

Authorities have yet to release an estimate of the financial damage, though losses are expected to be significant. The disaster marks one of the most severe industrial fires in the province in recent memory.

The operation to locate the two missing workers is ongoing, with emergency teams committed to continuing their search throughout the night, with crews also dampening down hot spots in areas that continue to burn.
