This morning I was declined a payment .redirected to Bangkok bank ask to do a face scan .the big problem for me without glasses i

cant  read the instructions .example blink turn head to right or left. I have now told to visit my bank .has any one else had this annoying problem .

    yeah i did it but i can't remember what i did. you do need to move your head and blink.  if you can't figure it out, just go to your branch and someone there will guide you through it.

Yes Harry, I am currently going through the same as you. I couldn't use / unlock my BB debit card, kept failing the blink, smile nonsense. I visited my branch, they retook my photo, we went through the nonsense again, failed again. Was told to try tomorrow, it will reset overnight, tomorrow came, failed yet again.

 

I rang BB, was talked through the blink, smile, failed once more. He said someone will call me to fix it on Monday or Tuesday ( today). Yesterday at 17:59 my phone rang once. I called back, was told someone will call me tomorrow.

 

My Thai friend says I should go to my branch and get a new card (and pay for it).

The facial recognition with most banks is a farce.

 

Some of them can't even enable it (SCB), others make a bad joke of it, where you have to smile -  turn head left right - blink etc, and it is pretty much impossible to complete if you need reading glasses.

The only one that has it right is Krungsri, where you only have to take a selfie, no other silly demands required

Thank you for your replies .This morning I went to Bangkok bank and went through with this ridiculous face scan again after two attempts it worked . I explained to the young lady if you have poor eye sight  it is not possible to see the instructions  and that means you will fail the test . The lady was very polite and helpful but of course it is not her fault as she is not responsible  for these security measures . I have not had many problems with Bangkok Bank and when  I have had a problem they have been very good with their customer service .

Well, come 15:00 today no call from BB, so I called them. The girl said my card is unlocked on their system, my app still showed locked, she asked me to try and make a payment, I booked a cancelable hotel on Agoda, it failed. She sent it to another department which would call me back.

30 minutes later they did and EUREKA! My card is now unlocked.

Interesting Treetops, the first BB fellow told me not to use outdoor light. Amazing banking Thailand.

Just curious, but why can't you take a photo with glasses, if you normally wear them? I do with another (UK) banking app.

 

(Same with passport photo, ID card etc.)

It's a crap app. My oz banking apps function seemlessly. The crap app kept telling me to remove non existent facials.

Yes. Had to resurrect banking app on new phone. Went to my branch. Staff willingly assisted in instruction of when to turn , smile , slow blink etc  which took more than several attempts due to timing out of app and laughter all round as people offered advice on how to achieve a final result. My sim  data connection inside the Bank was not very strong or fast and the staff knew and acknowledged the fact.

Finally achieved success for whatever purpose which I am assuming really only is facial scan security when using an ATM.

Have the same problem (App on new phone), went to the Bangkok bank and the woman behind the counter came to my side and read the instructions for me.

This may upset a few here, but I had absolutely no issues setting up and using the Bangkok Bank facial recognition feature in their app, and I was offshore Malaysia using a Starlink satellite link with a Japanese ground station and a Norwegian VPN.

So you're going to go into a branch every time you want to transfer money?

 

it is a farce, I've had problems with it but note it gives you a few tries, usually it asks you to blink slowly 3x and show your teeth. Kasikorn bank you don't have to do this, thankfully.

So it works for you, so what? It works for me too. The point here is those with dodgy minces can't read the instructions, so it's proving to be an issue. A proper 'I'm alright Jack' you are.

Yes, had the exact same problems with the BB face scan.

 

After many failed attempts doing it myself went along to my BB branch and got it sorted. It did take many attempts and I believe the staff member was more frustrated than me as he was wanting to head off on his lunch break....

Many things IT related with banks, (and anything else for that matter) seem to be way beyond programmers. But we can all rest easy at night that banks, the Revenue, Immigration are all now fully integrated. Allegedly.

Yes I have had this problem with two banks. Krungsri & Bangkok bank. I'm gonna go in and get their help because it's driving ME MAD!!!

That's because if your friend had completed it correctly it is already on the IO's system. So it's working.  You only have to complete it, not show it.

Try many times. Not work, Go to bank, Cannot do it at bank either. 

Bank IT dept investigating.

I don't think its anything to do with the ATM, It is for the app

No, i needed to complete face recognition to install the App on my new phone. Couldn't copy the App from old to new phone as i went from Iphone to Samsung.

Transfers below 50K don't need face recognition to start with.

I just tried it by the adjusting my transfer limits on the Bangkok Bank app. it worked perfectly, i don’t see what the fuss is about.

Yes. Me too. I had the same problem with the face scan with Bangkok Bank. I also need glasses for reading, so without them I couldn't read the instructions in order to get the face scan approved. I had to go to my bank branch where the staff helped me through the process. It seemed I wasn't the first customer they had to help in this way.
