The band’s hometown of Manchester has taken the celebrations one step further, with even a local Aldi store transforming into “Aldeh” in a riff on the Gallagher’s Manchester accents.

Fans at Aldi in Prestwich,

ALDEH

I am from Manchester and would never have said ALDEH, although it weren't around when I were a lad. It were always t' Ço-op.

I saw 10CC at Tower Theater, 2k seats, (where Bowie recorded some live tracks from), and Rory Gallagher opened for them, Dec 5th 1975 :cheesy:

Sat maybe 10 rows back from the stage, cost maybe $5 USD :coffee1:

When was that? The originals, or Graham Gouldman's band.

Before they hit the big time (though they were famous enough that it took the manager to have to come outside to tell the Police that I was a hotel guest before they'd let me in, I'd been staying there for 6 months!) I bumped into the Gallagher brothers at the hotel bar in the Copethorne Glasgow St George's square... Noel was a good crack chatting away, Liam sat sulking in the corner.

Fun fact, got chatting to Chrisse Hynde when checking out once, there's one scratched from the wnak bank, really hope I never bump into Debbie Harry :shock1:

I remember as a teenager going on the train to Manchester on a Saturday morning, my home Congleton was about 20 miles away, this was 1967, used to go to a boutique in Manchester that was allegedly owned by one of the Hollies, was called Pygmalia. Great days.

I remember it, on a little side street off Deansgate.

Yep, even Ashton-under-Lyne was a trek, but I did it every day to go to work. Thanks No. 6 bus.

Original 4 members,  Graham Gouldman, Eric Stewart, Kevin Godley and Lol Creme, just after 'I not in Love' was released and before Godley & Creme left the band.

Mine was one of the first bands to record at Strawberry Studios just after it opened in 1968. Never got anywhere though!

Eric Stewart put 800 quid into it, followed by Graham with 2000. Wow, big money in those days.

Just went to see Graham on tour. Nice, mostly acoustic, but NOT 10cc.

And The Factotums. manchesterbeat.com is a very interesting site for older Mancunian musicians.

It was like The Hollies meet The Hermits meet The Yardbirds meet Wax meet many others. Oh yes, and here's a song I wrote for 10cc, with Eric, or Lol or Kevin. Some great, classic songs though.

Some good songs, but highly overrated band, most media attention was for drink & drug fuelled behaviour & attitude,

But Noel knows a good football team when he sees one!

Sorry, that was Eric on lead vocals. That left BVs and most instruments to Graham. They were the only two, so only 5cc!

You claimed Oasis weren't "real" Manchester bands and named some bands that are "real."

I would like to know what your criteria for "real" is.
