Trouble sleeping, solutions?

I wouldn't take melatonin every night.

I don't think it's healthy. I was taking it for a few weeks and I started feeling off.

I haven't found any solutions for sleep.

Except anything that will calm the nerves like chamomile tea before bed.

But that might only help a little, and not everyone can't sleep due to anxiety.

My guess is you are not working 9 to 5 like you used to, so your body simply isn't getting tired as much and you don't really need that much sleep.

Some nights when I can't sleep, I usually nap during the day.

Exercise might help because it tires out the body and the body needs more recovery. Walking, and lifting weights. but those are major lifestyle changes ...

Also, getting sunshine in the morning. Go out for a morning walk. When you expose your eyes to sunlight in the morning, it helps regulate the body's circadian rhythm.

And go to bed at the same time every night.

I have an internet radio on all night and tune into U.S. talkback radio stations and although I wake up a few times to urinate I go back to sleep quickly due to the boring radio show and the idiot callers.I have tried music stations but I  stay awake singing along to the tunes but that gives the wife the sh%ts.

Exactly. Both myself and my Thai wife have trouble sleeping. It's down to old age. I'm awake at 0300 and can barely stay in bed until 0400. Mrs Thai parents were the same.  I should say I have no prob

I hallucinate all night with the weed here, even a small amount. Cookies even moreso lol

Same here, the few times I tried weed (over 30 years ago), bad hallucinations.   Very effective aversion therapy.

This is the first issue. If you embark on a very physical exercise program, and I do mean an intense one, where you ensure your body is physically tired, you will amost certainly sleep a lot better.

In addition you can use CBD oil, which helps with sleep for many people.

As does THC!

I been taking the codefin for a week now, half a night....full pill works even better. I wake up about an hour later but much more inclined to stay in bed, roll over and go back to sleep so excellent result so far. Best thing I have tried. I have read that they lose their effect pretty quickly if you take them more than a couple of weeks. Are you taking them every night / have been for a while or do you give them a break?

Appreciate your reply 🙂

I find a whole pill of Codiphen leaves me feeling woozy in the morning, so I go for a half pill.  Curiously, Phenz (even though it's twice the dose) doesn't.

I take one or the other 3 or 4 times a week.  I can usually predict when I'm going to have trouble falling asleep.

I've been using them for several months now, with no loss of effectiveness.  (Previously I tried more "natural" products such as l-theanine, melatonin, and found them ineffective.)

Last year or so had quite a bit of trouble getting a full night sleep, 62yo. Usually go to bed around 10-11pm, religiously wake up around 4.30am around 5-6 hours sleep. I have no trouble initially getting to sleep, just when I wake up early morning no chance of getting back to sleep again. Sometimes I might only get 2-3 hours. I eat fairly healthy, don't do a great deal of exercise but not sitting on my a$$ all day either, busy

Mostly I am fairly fresh during the day, if not might catch a 1 hour nap. It seems like I only really need this amount of sleep and maybe just overthinking it. I have tried a few different pills and can sleep but wake up and feel groggy and listless for the rest of the day, so it kind of negates the purpose / cure is worse than the symptoms.

Can anyone suggest anything or is this normal for an older guy?

I  had much the same problem, I bought a packet of Dormirax 25 from my local Pharmacy 20 Bt for a packet of 10. after taking two I was back to normal.

Hi Kenny, i am qiute sure, you are overthinking. Still it is good to watch yourself gettig older.

1 If you have no problems finding sleep (at 10 - 11) it sounds good. lots of people have this problem at your age.

it also shows  you sleep well. you do not wake up inbetween much (or at all). great. Men at your age sometimes get up for a piss two, three times or more, or just wake up after 3 hours and that's it.

2 getting older, people need less sleep. statiscically. there are exceptions. when you wake up after 6,7 hours and feel well, it seems that's what you needed.

(I really want my 8 hours myself, but often i am fine with 6 and sometimes i want 9.)

3 Of course it is not easy to get back to sleep if you already got 6 hours AND the days wakes up with the sun rising. you might get back after 6 hours if it is 11 pm.

4 anyway i would not start taking this and that. some helps sometimes or for a while....and yeah a dark room is better than flashlights.

if it gets worse for longer , better see a doc.

 kindly Bernhard

i am no doctor or specialist. i had my own sleeping problems for clear reasons. i am informed with doctors who are friends.

I bought a packet of 10  only took 1 the first time and one 24 hours later, that's now over a full week, had no groggy, and I now have no problem sleeping normally. The only sleeping pills I have ever used in my life was to help get over jet lag.

I took them for a week and then stopped. I still woke up earlyish but was able to roll over and go back to sleep easilly. They are avail over the counter 45 baht for 10. No grogginess the next day. I stopped using them because I read they have been linked to dementia and Alstheimers... Whether true or not who knows in this surreal world of bull$het. I wasnt sleepy or tired in the day but brain didnt seem as sharp as normal... Memory etc. (make u super relaxed but not woozey or groggy) Also found their effect lessening towards the end of the week. Still a good mild pill and worth a try. Maybe as the other poster said use intermittently

Thanks for the reply. I had read that also from several credible sources, hence why I asked if over the counter available.

I go sleep about midnight, wake up 3 - 4am. Still very tired but can't sleep again. It's like being a zombie till 8am when I get up.

During daytime I fall asleep in front of my PC, and notice I can't think clear most of the day.

Suffer from this for months already.

I ordered 12mg melatonin from Iherb, but no result at all.

Then I discovered I had still 1 1/2 box of Flunitrazepam prescribed by my doctor in my home country ages ago in some drawer

Expiry date 2011, yeah you read that right, 14 years expired.

I have taken them for the past 4 days. Sleep till 7-8am without waking up.

Brain during daytime is more clear than ever before, and not fall a sleep during the day.

I have 11 tablets left, but of course don't want to take stuff like this forever, expired or not.

Have you been tested for sleep apnea?

I'm happy with my sleep, no meds required. Usually drink 3 coffees and 3 teas during the day.

Sleep by 8pm, alarm set for 4am, usually wake between 3 and 4am, no problem, I don't fight it, get up when I wake. Rarely I sleep daytime but only seconds to couple minutes, that removes tiredness and no groggyness

No I haven't and didn't even know there was such a test.

Can this be done at the government hospital, and provide some more details about what is involved in such a test?

I just looked up sleep apnea, and feel that doesn't apply to me.

My problem is that I wake up after 3-4 hours sleep, and simply can't sleep again, although I'm still tired.

For the following 3-4 hours I'm just laying restless in my bed, and hear everything that happens.

When I take such a Flunitrazepam, I will wake up when it's time to wake up, and have a clear head.

Since they expired 14 years ago, I believe they must have lost most of their potency, but still effective for my needs

Flunitrazepam

Isn't that similar to the date rape drug?  Knocks you out ?

Cheers mate,i'll give Codiphen a try.

Be careful, as the pills I see in Thailand are sometimes 50mg.  That's Way too strong.  Even 25mg is strong. I recommend you cut them into pieces and try 10-15mg first.  It should work and you will be much less groggy in the morning.  Try to use them only a few times a week. alternating days to avoid building up a tolerance.
