Vladimir Putin supporters have a very simple method for determining whether the US will win the war. The Americans don't have infantry and aren't planning a ground operation in Iran. But a war can't be won without infantry. This means the plan was to win with the help of spies and traitors within the country, who essentially take on the role of foot soldiers. If spies within Iran are running the country, what will they do? Obviously, they'll defend America. That means retaliatory strikes will target anything (Israel? Arabs?) but the US. Or they'll launch theatrical retaliatory strikes with zero American casualties. If spies within Iran aren't actually running the country, the Americans will feel like targets. Judging by the latest news, Iran is threatening American citizens. Iran's forces are certainly not strong, but Vladimir Putin certainly won't miss an opportunity to silently help.
