Personally I think subjecting patrons to drug tests is stepping way over the line, and should be considered some kind of violation of civil liberty.

Do you really, how noble.

Club 86 is on Pattaya Tai (South) 16.

One of those notorious from dusk till dawn places.

Hardly any foreigners/tourist would set foot there.

More noisy places when you cross South Pattaya rd to Khopai.

When I pass there in the morning 8 to 9 AM still party in swing.

Another proof that rules do not apply equal for all.

civil liberty

YOu do realize you are in Thailand and the great THAKSIN HAS SPOKEN FROM THE MOUND SAYING THEY NEED TO GET TOUGH ON DRUGS.

Also all police have to have is reasonable cause.  Bar known for drugs, people looking like they are under the influence  baggie with white powder found

I think there probably is enough for reasonable cause LOL

Authorities in Pattaya, Chonburi, have raided a well-known club following a violent altercation involving a gang of bar hosts. The raid, which found the venue operating beyond legal hours, led to the detention of 18 individuals whose drug tests returned positive results.

At 4 am on 11th July, provincial officials, accompanied by local police, raided a popular nightclub in South Pattaya after reports surfaced of a gang-related attack.

CCTV footage clearly captured the incident involving a group of bar hosts assaulting a rival, prompting public safety concerns and media complaints.

The club, notorious for previous drug-related issues and operating past permitted hours, was once again found to be breaking the law. Despite ongoing violations, attempts to close it permanently for five years have been thwarted by rebranding efforts.

During the operation, officers discovered numerous e-cigarettes and a suspicious bag of white powder, presumed to be drugs, at the scene. None claimed ownership of the substance.

A subsequent drug test revealed that 18 partygoers - 14 men and 4 women—tested positive. With no valid documentation presented by the establishment, officials detained the manager and seized evidence to push for a five-year closure proposal.

The incident highlights the ongoing struggle against illegal nightlife operations in Pattaya despite repeated enforcement actions.

Locals only club. Farangs not welcome. Even my Thai girlfriend avoids it like the plauge. Full of junkies and locals drunk on cheap thai whisky.

Well I don’t know where these places are and I never go to places like soi6 or Walking Street at night. And I spend all my long winters in Pattaya.

Yeah, what's the name of the place?

And wait, you're telling me that a 4 in the morning they found people who tested positive for drugs? Wow! That's a shocker.

The police are just  wasting their time and should concentrate on serious crime such as traffic offences; not wearing helmets; parking illegally etc etc. These kind of crimes cause more upset than a few private party goers.

Why do you live here then?

It is about time this loophole was closed. Why has the name of the place been withheld, or are there simply too many to list?

No! Just leave them alone. The club owners are providing a service; obviously.

The farang think they are kicking out the jams but no. It's the Thai clubs that are really KICKING. We are basically soft.

Well, yes it's a personal violation, but it's not a violation of civil liberty if the law says it's not. You don't have civil liberties here. It's not in Thailand's constitution. You realize this is Thailand right? Your civil rights are whatever the cops decide they are. In their view drug testing is a viable method of law enforcement, no different from road checkpoints for passport ID. They're entitled to take that view. What about requiring drug tests for employment or sports? Does that violate civil liberties? If you want constitutional protections Go to the that lovely flag draped democracy known as America. In America people have the right to elect a convicted felon/fascist totalitarian demagogue. Ironically, they had the right to elect him and now he's going to strip away everyone's civil rights including the right to vote for a lot of people whom he doesn't like (anyone who didn't vote for him). .

Or more exactly a venue for drug dealings and late drunken brawls. Maybe the  town could do without them.

Rebranding efforts? More like dishing out big fat brown envelopes!

I like Spidermike007's comment   ... ''Personally I think subjecting patrons to drug tests is stepping way over the line, and should be considered some kind of violation of civil liberty. '' ... the 'line' being the operative word !!
