You are trolling.

There is a plethora of sites on net with all info required for DTV questions.

There is also pinned thread above in the forum.

Find retirement pretty straightforward; one set of copies, in & out under an hour, 1900 baht, no leaving.

This would definitely not be for the immobile but retirees that are complaining all the time, this would be perfect for quick hops twice a yr to Europe and other of the ASEAN countries for a weekender at the beach or mountains with snow. :stoner:

Really ? Dental treatment doesn't need 5 years... ?

You don't need to show 5 years.  You just need to show a treatment plan ideally more than 6 months long. Otherwise you might risk getting a multiple-entry tourist visa instead of the DTV.

Think that's about it to be honest.

If you dont work and have a Thai wife you cant get DTV visa  ,,,thats what london told me ,, My wife has properties in Thailand  and a business  but I spend  half the year in Europe   , it would be more convenient  than all the other visa options

For likes of Thai coooking do you need to re-enroll every 6 months or 1-year ?

Somebody messed up or miscommunicated somewhere, because Thai wife has nothing to do with DTV.  You either get it based on remote work for a foreign company, or you get it based on a soft power activity in Thailand.  Being married to a Thai person is not a qualification for DTV.

Many people have already reported getting DTVs from London.

For the Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) under the "soft power" category, options include participating in Thai cultural activities like Muay Thai training, Thai cooking classes, sports training (like yoga or diving), medical treatments, and short-term educational courses or seminars.

You must be right but even dental treatment for more than 6 months seems exceptionally long. What kind of dental treatment lasts more than 6 months?

It's a bit unclear to me. In particular, "short" seems to be the opposite of "long-term visa."

Not difficult at all if you work with your dentist.  First thing that comes to mind is orthodontics, which can easily take 2-3 years. But something like implants can take months, and even a few crowns or veneers can be spaced out to many months, especially when you take into account temporary placement, lab time, etc.

Orthodontics seems a bit problematic given my age. An implant seems more realistic — one of my teeth actually ended up breaking in March and is now missing... Thank you for your comments and for your help!

Each entry of a DTV only allows a stay of up to 180 days = short term.

Yes, but it's the continuous permission to stay that counts as short or long term.

Tourist visa are classed as short term stays, 1 year extension or a Non Imm O-A visa long term.

Has anyone actually tried to obtain a 6-month extension as yet?

Some have tried.  VERY few have succeeded.  Even Bangkok makes it more difficult than the official list.  For example in Chiang Mai, you're required to have 500,000 in a Thai bank account.  Yet you cannot open a bank account on a DTV.  The immigration officers are straight up telling people to do a border bounce.  I know an immigration volunteer in Phuket and he says the success rate for DTV extensions is around 1-2%.

Often times, even if you can meet their requirements, when you go back into the office, there's magically a new requirement or two.  Rinse and repeat until you give up and do the border bounce.

Thanks for that, as I haven't read any reports of someone successfully obtaining the 6 month extension.
In particular, I wondered if Immigration requested the same evidence and documentation as that for the original DTV.

I find it quite ridiculous that someone would want to have a complete run around and repeated trips to immigration to avoid a simple border bounce every 180 days.

The silliness is beyond belief.

With a DTV, ' You've never had it so good! '

I think we have answered enough of your questions. You're either trolling or bored now.

That's all irrelevant.

What your Thai wife does has nothing to do with a DTV for you.

Application Guidance for DTV Visa in Vietnam

Foreign nationals in Vietnam must apply in person at either the Hanoi Embassy or the HCMC Consulate, depending on their location. The online eVisa portal is generally not available for applicants based in Vietnam. thaiconsulatehochiminh.com

Appointments are usually required at both missions. They typically accept and process your documents within 2–3 business days.

You don’t need to show Vietnam residency, just proof that you’re physically present in Vietnam—entry stamp, accommodation booking, or onward flight.

Vietnam missions began offering eVisa-based DTV issuance starting late 2024, but not full online service—you still submit in person and then receive a digital PDF approval to be presented at Thai immigration.

This information is badly outdated.  There is no in person.  You won't even be allowed into the embassy.  It's ALL done online through the e-visa portal.

Always.  EXTREMELY simple.

Age is no bar to getting orthodontic work.

I found the following on the website for an orthodontics clinic:

Quote

The fact is that teeth straightening can be done at any age or stage in life. It's just that it is relatively more difficult to move the teeth during old age as the bones have stopped growing and become brittle. This means that adult braces may take longer to move and realign adult teeth than in kids.
