Route: Jomtien to Korat City

I may need to drive from Jomtien to Korat city in the near future.  Google maps suggests Rt-7 to Rt-304.  While that is clearly the faster route it is also traffic and truck intensive.

Is Rt-331 to Rt-304 a reasonable alternative?  I know longer and twistier  but less traffic intensive and more scenic?   

I won't be in a hurry and may actually make it a two day trip, staying a night along he way.
