Wise Account - Proof of name/address and residence.

Featured Replies

I've had a request from Wise to prove my name/address/residence and until i do they have suspended my account. Does anyone know by way of actually receiving the ok from them by submitting a Residence Certificate obtained from Thai Immigration ?

Thanks for any help.

Now from memory the last Residence Certificate i received from Thai Immigration was only available in Thai so will not be accepted by Wise, i've answered my query.

I'll have to go down the Thai driving licence route as that contains all the relevant required info in both Thai and English. So i'll be off to renew shortly.

I think the bank can print a statement with your address on, someone said ask them to change to English first if required.

But, don't you need a UK address with Wise?

Can be a thai address. I originally opened an account with my danish address as I lived in Denmark at that time and later changed it to my thai address. Had no problem at all. Did the proof of address with a bank statement from Bangkok Bank later on.

I have registered with my Thai address only.

Luckily I had a fairly recent letter from my pension office.

WISE accepts any government letter/document from your home country not older than ? months (forgotten).

A letter from a Thai bank in English would be OK. Never had one though.

Thanks, my Thai address is accepted by Wise no problem. Now i have considered trying to use my Bangkok Bank account by requesting a letter from them which will show my full name and address and a bank statement and will be signed/stamped by the bank issuer.

Problem is the letter will need to show Bangkok Bank heading the letter which i have never seen before but they maybe able to do. I have a good relationship with my BB branch so if they could do i'm not expecting any problems. They will need to do the letter/statement in English which i hope is not a problem.

I'm going to get wifey to call them on Tuesday when they open and ask the various questions i need a reply to.

Do you have a tenancy or rental agreement? Their website says they'll accept that.

I have used this method and it is accepted by Wise.

I'm going to give them a try on Tuesday, any statement letter will have to show my name and address.

TBH if i get much more sh*t from Wise i'll close the account and go back to doing Swift transfers with HSBC to my Bangkok Bank account and accept the lower exchange rate. When doing Swift transfers they comply with Thai Immigration requirements as they show as being International transfers for my Retirement extension 65k monthly income.

Well i've decided to satisfy Wise's requirements by using my Thai driving licence as it clearly meets Wise's requirements. As its run out i need to renew so i've arranged an appointment at my local DLT for this Wednesday and i've advised Wise of my actions, nothing negative came back from them.

I have always had my registererrd address with bangkok bank in english, and that is what is printed on a statement. Should be no problem to get it in english.

No, I use Wise with my Thai address.

When they ask me for my Address they said that they will take a Utility Bill in my name and Address in English so I got one Internet provider bill regitsered in my name and address in English and a copy from my Passport . That was  when I started using Wise and they just asked me again about 18 Months ago , No problem.

Are you from the US and retired and receiving SS benefit payments? You will have received mail from SS to your Thai address all in English so that is proof enough for Wise, I took a photo of the envelope address sent to me by SS and sent the pic to Wise. End of Story.

Have a check of the English address. There is not enough room on the licence for my full address in English so the computer just  randomly shortened it. My address is **/* moo ** in Thai. In English it is **/*, the moo ** is missing.

There is some lack of clarity when the question of Wise accounts comes up. You can have a Wise account in many jurisdictions but the services available from that account can vary.

I think that with a verified UK account every service they offer is available but the same cannot be said for a Thai account.

Earlier on in this thread you stated:

Does your reference to HSBC means that you have a UK account with them? If so, could you not use a recent statement from them for this purpose (assuming, of course, that the address registered for your account is your Thai one)?
