1. Sell my investments, exchange the money to dollars and gold.

2. Leave on an airplane to safer destinations.

(If necessary, abandon step 1, as I would need days to do this.)

Air space would be shut down in this event.

drop my bombs as ordered !

Full-scale nuclear war will have unimaginably horrific consequences.  Not least "nuclear winter" which should put paid to the "man-made global warming" hypothesis.  Think of the summer (that wasn't) of 1816.  Industrial agriculture and global trade will collapse.

Governments threaten war without usually any intention of launching it.  As a means of bullying other governments and coercing, and gaining support from, their own people.  But sometimes they overstep the mark.  The result is: BOOM !

I suspect that no government in Europe, with the possible exception of Austria-Hungary, sought war in 1914.  It had been considered impossible in any case, because of trade between the various nations, royal intermarriage, etc.  But conflicting self-interests and sabre-rattling brought about what was thought would be a brief and glorious conflict to settle differences.  But look at what resulted !

Brinkmanship has been taking us closer than ever to nuclear war.  Treaties intended to reduce the likelihood have been abrogated of late.  If nuclear warfare breaks out, whichever the power that kicks off, will, if it has any sense, go whole hog to wipe out every possible means of nuclear riposte available to its adversary.  Let that sink in.

Nowhere in the world will be safe, because nuclear destruction and fall-out are only the beginning of the problem.  However, to get as far away as possible from blast and fall-out, the safest places may be those non-aligned countries that are as remote as possible from the main contenders for power.

Let us hope for, and argue for, the abatement of warlike passions.

Whatever the probability of nuclear war, there is one thing that is certain and which seems to be approaching at an ever quickening pace.  And which shares some of the same challenges.  An economic meltdown.

To meet this latter eventuality, there is the need to consider sustainability of life over the short, medium, and perhaps longer term.  A very complex issue.  All the more so because although circumstances will be greatly changed, perhaps in unimaginable ways, it is necessary to try to envisage them.

A few ideas:
    Community
    Money (gold, silver)
    Local Currency
    Barter-able Items & Services
    Shelter
    Clothing
    Water
    Food stores
    Food production & processing
Energy - for cooking, lighting, space-heating
    Transport (human-powered, animal-powered, and other)
    Domestic Animals (for various ends)

Maybe sooner.

Maybe later.

You will not know before it happens.

There will be no warning.

This is the beauty of it....

In fact....

Gotcha Gamma!

I used to be with a National Guard Airborne Unit in the U.S. of A.   After reading a Field Manual on how to protect yourself during Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical warfare, then correcting the assigned instructor during a training period, I was assigned to be the new training instructor.

After more study of more Field Manuals, I came to the conclusion of the following.

If you are not in the direct vicinity of a chemical warfare attack, you will be OK.  Unless, if what are known as persistent chemicals were used and you go into the area that had been attacked.   You either die soon, or live miserably ever after, until you die.  Either way, you are F'ed!

World wide Military grade biological warfare, designed to kill you.  You will die, quickly, painfully, and quickly.   Or, you will die slowly and painfully.  Either way, you are F'ed!

World wide nuclear war.   Depends on where in the world you are.   Where I live in the U.S. of A., it will be quick and might not even know it happened.   Many other areas of the U.S. of A. more likely die slowly and very sick from radiation poisoning.    Either way, you are F'ed!

Nuclear war in Europe, pretty much quick and dead.   Might be some exceptions.

Not sure about the rest of the world, but Thailand, more likely slowly from radiation poisoning.   It getting fallout from wind drift.

From searching the internet for wind drift that would carry dangerous irradiated nuclear dust/particulate, I saw that South America, Australia, and

the African Continent could be the safest places to be.  The implied reason for those being the safest seemed to be low interest military targets.   I have my doubts about Australia though!

If there are any real, NBC warfare experts out there.  Feel free to correct my posting.

Wow, Man....

Thank you so much for your good feedback....because....

I had been wondering if there was even one second reader on this TV forum who might understand me.

In the future, just knowing that there are to readers who might understand me....

I might continue to post a few Topics, in the future.

However, I can tell you...

I do not plan to post many Topics in the future, because...

I am getting old now.

I think I lack both the energy and the emotional impetus I once had....

By the way:

This term, Emotional Impetus is of my own derivation.

So, I asked Gemini to explain my nonsense to me:

And, here is what this new term means.....

Yes, Gemini got it right.

This is exactly what I meant when I first thought of Emotional Impetus.

If light can be bent, then anything can be bent.

Reality is not what we might take it to be.

I couldn't care less about any of this nuclear war fear mongering nonsense. Next.

I doubt Thailand will receive any nuclear bombs, but when you can no longer find food or water to drink and everything around you is destroyed and non-functional, you know your time has come and there's nothing you can do to survive.

So, I don't think a long agony is the best solution.

I don’t know why anyone would stand by a blatantly false statement, unless they were The Emperor of MisTruth.

In the post-truth world, leap years will be scheduled retrospectively.

Remember, you heard it here first.

Don't worry everybody about a nuclear war because climate change / globable warming is gonna cook us all  first.

Wow, 'Charlie Tuna' lives!

"In Thailand: What are your plans when Nuclear War happens?" ...

... same as last & next pandemic

... or the MMGM & CC

... or those rising seas

Simply ignore the 'what ifs' that will never happen, and carry on, with the reality of, tomorrow is just another day to live and enjoy.  Saving the few brain cells left the things that matter or might even happen, or not.

Think I'll take the dog for a walk :coffee1:

In the UK lived just far enough from London so that i would survive the first strike. After that i would have headed west (prevailing wind would with luck keep fallout at bay for a time). Here in Thailand probably unlikely to experience a direct hit, fallout may get me, depends on how many bombs drop. I try to keep enough stuff to survive most disasters, we have land, food and fish, can keep going for a while.

Pitcairn? You would never get there after the war started. If by some miracle you did, you would probably be considered as food....
