No, it says more about yours, old fella.

Wonder what your previous username was, as it is clear that you are only here to post negative comments, and your chosen nickname suggests it as well.

Who ever gave me a thumbs down on my post 5 posts ago....Either put up or shut up....And please do tell us all why Pattaya is better now....

The ONLY thing thats better than 10 years ago is we now have Lazada and Shopee...

This is a record for me 11 thumbs down on one post.......

The reason?

I guess there are just a lot of people here who never leave their condo or are too sheep like to call a spade a spade, in saying how Pattaya is worse....So they leave a thumbs down.

Ok lets see here....

The Beach promenade was vastly better before it got destroyed

Walking street has turned into New Delli street, plus all the signs got removed...

Girl prices a way way up.

Traffic is worse etc etc........Need I go on.

Things that are better Lazada, Grab taxi, and food delivery  but these are for all of Thailand....Not just Pattaya.

The thought of sleeping with that guy makes me sick.

Agreed.  But highly doubtful he’s getting the cream of the crop.

Afternoons near 5 star and Mikes Mall.  Not the best pickings.

Chances are high it takes him several attempts when the girls see his blood shot eyes and gets a whiff of his booze breath.

Yup. Stickyman tells tales that barflys in Central Pattaya relate to. Doubt if he has ever ventured over the railway line onto the Darkside. 🙃🙃

Open air brothels like Pattaya have a lot of fond memories for some on here. Most were sex tourists or are now sex pats, or maybe married here, but still having the odd hand job thinking about the things they got up to with lo so, lo cost isaan bar girls, who very probably hated them🫢

Song a lament by an old bar girl about her time in Pattaya and Patpong, not Lamyai of course, she's loaded.

"Need I go on", you say.  Yes, you need to go on.  Those are three very measely items in your 'worse' column.  'Girl prices' and Walking Street don't even affect most visitors and residents.  I'll give you traffic being worse.  And, maybe the Promenade--something not high on my list, and many others, I suspect, of things used frequently.  Quite negligible for a list of things being worse.

On the plus side, in addition to your on-line shopping, Grab taxi, and food delivery, I would list the new hospitals built, the improved 4-lane Motorway to Bangkok, the one Underpass that was built (out of 3 planned), improved flood control, lots of new restaurants and hotels, some electrical wire burial, such as North Pattaya Road, Terminal 21, Centre Point Space, and tons of other new retail.   Just about every new car brand is now represented--nice when you are shopping for new transportation.

In addition, housing choices have greatly expanded, both with condos and single-family homes.  There really is something for everyone now, in all price points, and whether you rent or buy.  Terrific selection, in a variety of different neighborhoods.

The whole Darkside is booming, with the Lake Mabprchan area especially popular with new housing projects.   New international schools have opened and yet another one, Highgate, will be opening next year.  Something like 18 in total, which I find impressive.

The big story, for me, is the truly huge amount of investment that has been done by the private sector since my spouse and I arrived in 2010.  When you list it all it really is staggering.  And, it continues today with impressive new projects just about everywhere you look, whether it's hotels, retail shops, or entertainment.  And, most of it is geared, not to mongers but to families.   And, definitely geared to those who do, in your words, "Leave their condo"--or nice pool villa--and find Pattaya now has just about everything they need.

Last time I was at Mike's Mall I went to the "food court" on the upper floor. It was completely deserted except for one older guy sitting there staring into his soup. Was that Mike?

I had a freind visit with his family recently they wanted to go to Pattaya.

I set them up with a place in Naklua.  They went to the Dolphin show, floating market, water park, Cosy and Naklua beaches, had legit massages.  They ate in Naklua at the seafood market, the big Jomtien market and  took a day trip to Sattihip.

Now, I am not saying the place is a family resort but a family can have a good time there if avoid the entertianment areas.

Proximity to the airport is a big deal for families. Spend first week in pattaya to acclimatize rather than BKK.

families vacations are really the future of pattayas tourism product. So many amazing family hotels.

the crystal clear waters of the island also get the tropical island out of the way rather than going samui or Phuket.

the zoo and the Pygmy hippo is another thing for a day.

also all the beaches along the coast to the south.

Plethora of outdoor night  markets are also a key feature.

I am a huge booster of pattaya for  family vacation. we wake up at 6 am end usually in bed by 10 pm.  Even heat of the day works to kids advantage as we do homework in the hotel room.

Daddy (sometimes mommy) might sneak out until 11 pm. 😉

I would be more likely to say the beach was destroyed. When it used to be smaller and had tree shade it was better. Now it is like a Saudi Rub al Khali, baking hot, but good for fireworks displays and music festivals. The promenade, well it crumbles and is rebuilt on a regular basis.
