Debit card fraud isn't anything to do with the internet or bank apps, they just need the card number. Bank apps are the safest system in the world, they need your phone, your fingerprint and your

  • That must be for Thais only. 3 months for foreigners haha...

  • As nobody has said it yet, I would question the girlfriend/wife first.   They do the most shopping on facebook/tik tok etc., and those apps don't have COD.

Don't know why the bank told you to go to the police. The bank should be able to trace it and deal with it. Bangkok Bank have their own fraud department and are very efficient. Would be surprised if Krungsri didn't have likewise.

It's Thailand, that's why.

"Bangkok Bank have their own fraud department and are very efficient". What a load of cobblers. I had around 1000Bt a time taken from my Bangkok Bank account by two different companies from Cyprus and they did nothing about it. I immediately withdrew the vast majority of funds and set up another account elsewhere.

Truly frightening , call me old school but I won't use "apps" or internet banking here, just the ATM     but that probably won't be possible in the future when "cashless"   has been forced on us all

Another worry is the stance immigration (or indeed bangkok bank these days) would take if a fraudulent transaction took one below the required balance for visa extensions,    refusal of extension , or account locked for 4 months  I would not expect any sympathy from either

the feeling of helplessness would be awful in such a situation

Ditto. Never ever use a phone for banking - Laptops and ATMs or Branches ONLY.  This is only going to get worse as they get better and better at hacking into phones through social media accounts and from SMS messages and even just hacking in via bluetooth or wireless.  Why do you think the scammers get so much money from this in Thailand - it is because the locals are silly and use them everywhere, and the bank apps are managed by people who are at best 'iffy'.

Has the OP mentioned it is a joint account?

Hold on... has the OP suggested he's even married or has a girlfriend?

Time to give up that "old school" mentality, no?
