What's the big deal? wait, have patience or do the transfers earlier so you don't get desperate

  • I'm a pensioner who also supports another family and cannot transfer earlier as the money simply isn't there. It is not a big pension either, reduced annually now because the UK Government have not in

  • Not any longer.  Since around May/June all deposits to Bangkok Bank are deposited in your account shortly after 2:00pm no matter what you select as the reason for transfer.  Same day if you start the

They will now pull their socks up as a result of his formal complaint ?   If waiting just a few days is the only problem that's  hardly a major issue in my opinion and certainly not the worst that can happen  ,   having the transaction stopped "for ones security and safety " on the other hand can be  very frustrating and worrying matter

Sent 1000 pounds to my daughter this week.  By the time I came off the computer maybe 1 min I had an email saying it was in her account. She checked the account about one hour later and it was there.

You guys aren't transferring to the Bangkok Bank like the OP.  Things are different there.

I have made a topic about this too and again it shows that WISE is witholding the money.. It is blamed on the Bangkok Bank, but they have nothing to do with it. I have used Remitly and it arrives in seconds, even on Sundays and holidays, but WISE keeps on telling me that it is a holiday and the banks are not working, or that it is the bank to blame that it takes so long. On my question why Remitly can do it, they don't answer it, as they have to deal on the same days and holidays. Wise says they have to process every transaction. but that is of course not true. I worked on a Bankoffice for more than 28 years and everything is digitalized already for many many years and only exceptions are being checked. Wise is making money out the transactions. They have an amount of THB for a certain prize and they will process the transactions for that price. But when the exchange rates are changing they keep the money to make profits and blame the banks...

The strange thing is that with Kasikornbank there are less problems, so now I sometimes transfer money to my partners account at Kasikorn, it arrives quickly and than I transfer it to my account...Wise was once very reliable, but nowadays I get less trust in them.. Kasikorn can work now but how long it is not sure.. probably they will change that too

I transfer to kasikorn and allways just take seconds to get it.

I have one bank in Thailand which has 850K total. I use my Revolut bank for transactions, where possible. I transfer GBP to Thai Baht on the app at a cost of approx 30Bht per 1k GBP, or it did last April. As most of the places I use, have the VISA sign in the window, I'm good to go 24/7

How long does it take the transfer to arrive?

Try sending directly from your home country bank to Thailand, using Swift, and see if you get it in 8 or even 24 hours

More like 3 or 4 days?

Instant.

It would help to know the amounts involved.  I know that I've never had problems with amounts under around 10k baht, but as soon as I went over it got delayed.  After I cancelled the transaction and did another one for a lesser amount it went through in seconds.  That has happened to me multiple times so I try limit it to 9k now.

Wise does not operate like a traditional bank, users must try to understand that first before making complaints here about slow transfers!

Quote
Wise, formerly known as TransferWise, is a financial technology company that offers international money transfers, currency exchange, and a multi-currency account with a debit card. It works by leveraging a network of local bank accounts around the world, enabling users to send and receive money internationally without relying on traditional, often slow and expensive, SWIFT bank transfers. Essentially, Wise acts as a peer-to-peer service, connecting users who want to send money with those who want to receive it, often using money already held in their system.

Here's a more detailed breakdown:
1. How it Works for Money Transfers:
  • Local Transfers, Not International Wires:
Instead of sending money through a global network of banks, Wise utilizes its own network of local bank accounts in different countries.
  • User A pays Wise in one currency:
When a user sends money, they pay into Wise's local bank account in their country.
  • Wise pays out in the recipient's currency:
Wise then uses its corresponding account in the recipient's country to send the money to the recipient.
  • No actual cross-border transfer:
The money doesn't physically cross borders, making the process faster and cheaper.

Online International bank transfers from my UK bank to my Thai bank take around 24-hours.  Never quite understood why using a 3rd party like Wise helps?

Wise certainly helps in my case because my UK bank have withdrawn their option for initiating SWIFT transfers online, meaning that I'd need to call them instead. I'm concerned that the info I have to provide them for this purpose could be misinterpreted (right down to a single account number digit) because of momentary fades on the phone line (which I've found to be an issue whenever calling them, HMRC, DWP, etc from Thailand), causing a transfer to fail.

Just transfered a bit more than 1000 Euro to my Kasikorn account (out of my usual routine to Bangkok Bank).

Interesting:

within seconds WISE says all done and Kasikorn shows an updated available balance with the added amount on the app.

But it is not yet on the list of transactions and no message from Kasikorn (I get message for every movement on the account).

So now message comes in at 14:55 stating that transfer took place at 14:09.

Also transaction list shows 14:09.

So maybe just some overload at the banks IT?
