What products do the expats stock that BigC do not?  Pay a bit extra to ensure the expats shops stay open with those non BigC items.🤔

Saving 90baht a year on Marmite wouldn't worry me.😋

I have never eaten Marmite;

I do not care about the price of Marmite.

But, I care very much about the price of Stilton cheese.

I have not splurged on Stilton since I was last in HK, before the commie takeover.

Back in the day, you could buy Stilton at a very reasonable price at most retailers frequented by farang, in HK.

Other than Stilton, I think I can do without other Farang foods.

The last time I had Stilton was about 28 years ago.

Not sure if Big C stocks high quality Stilton at a very reasonable price.

Also, not sure about Clam Chowder, either.

But, if not available, then I just eat, solely, Thai foods.

When in Thailand, I consider myself lucky to eat Thai foods.

I think of it this way:

Say I were in Dubuque, Iowa....

Then, how much more would I need to pay, even if I could actually find it, which I know  I could not, Pad Krapao Gai (chicken)?

Probably 10-times more for a substandard rendition of what I can easily find here in Thailand.

Therefore, when in Thailand, I continue to count my many blessings.

Also, I am unable to get authentic Chinese food, here, of course.

Maybe the Farang stores here might carry good Chinese foods, but I have not seen any.

So, a word to the wise:  We should try not to worry about, or even think about, the many Farang foods that cost more here.

Probably Big C has good prices for most things, because otherwise nobody would shop there.

I would also bet that the prices at Big C are very competitive with the super-high prices now on offer in the USA and the UK.

Yes, I count my blessings, all the time, while here in this great land.

And, this is one of the most honest statements I have ever made during the past many years.

Anyway, I guess I will be dead soon, or soon enough, say in about two decades or so....

And, I do not expect to see lower prices during my lifetime.

If you haven't had Stilton in 28 years, why would you care very much about the price ?

If the price of Stilton here were much lower, same as it used to be in Hong Kong, then I would DEFINITELY buy Stilton once or twice per month.

This is probably the SINGLE thing I miss most about my time in HK.

In HK, you could get ALL SORTS of great foods from the UK, pre-1997, when everybody left.

One of the reasons I loved HK was all the guys from the UK who lived there, pretty much full time.

I AM an anglophile, you know.

I have stated as much, many times, on TV.

Here you go, just turn down that AC temperature and this won't be that much...........https://www.lazada.co.th/products/british-stilton-blue-cheese-200-250g-calveley-mil-brand-200-250-i5801561330-s24706459803.html?from_gmc=1&fl_tag=1&exlaz=d_1:mm_150091118_215552685_2172902701::12:22769564345!!!!!c!!24706459803!5607355581&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=22763543517&gclid=CjwKCAjwwNbEBhBpEiwAFYLtGCpmpueOce4Vx1C_K_xbrVokoVoeiP97WPo6TOKmYsyFhSZZq9ccShoCuiwQAvD_BwE

Thank you.

But, I think I would prefer to buy from a major store, and not online.

Not saying that buying edibles online is not good.

It's just that I would prefer to buy from a major store I can walk into.

Good price, though, it seems.

How much is 250 grams of cheese, anyway.

I think I might like to buy half a pound, and store it in smaller packages in my freezer.

Because, IF I were to have 250 grams in just one single pack...then....

I would probably eat the entire pack within an hour, or so.

That would be wasteful.

There are many things I miss about pre-1997 HK....

Still, lucky to be here, of course.

A thin smear on toast is recommended. My Jar easily lasts a year. I don't have it every day.

Big C Extra have reduced their prices on some of the UK choices as they near the end of their shelf life.

Jacob's Cheddars started at 119 baht IIRC, been cut twice before and now going for 20 baht.  In the UK they're about £1.00 GBP.

Not a problem buying cheese online, as long as the brand is reputable, Lazada's good about things. You buy COD, then when it comes, you check it out and refuse it if it's not legit. Villa is also good. Stilton is good on salads, which is how i ate it. Just eating Stilton by itself? Guess it's okay, as I used to eat a variety of cheese by itself when I worked in Swiss Colony in Texas. 250 grams is a half pound. ..............https://shop.villamarket.com/product/213961

ABSOLUTELY.....!!!!!

I loved sitting in my hotel room, in HK, with those digestive biscuits, piled high with Stilton.

But, I used to drink beer with it, maybe some white wine, once in awile.

Those were the says when HK was such a wonderful place for us Farang.

I could leave my hotel room, take the elevator down to the ground floor, and then go next-door, and buy as much Stilton as I could eat.

I love the taste of great Stilton.

I can eat it with or without biscuits.

I could not get enough of it.

Greatest cheese, by far, IMHO.

True Stilton cannot be sourced outside of the UK, as you know.

Marmite is not Brit food though, it's a German invention.

Marmite originated in the United Kingdom and was first commercially produced in 1902 by the Marmite Food Extract Company in Burton upon Trent, Staffordshire. Its creation was inspired by a discovery made by Justus von Liebig, a German scientist in the 19th century, who found that brewer’s yeast, a by-product of beer brewing, could be concentrated into a nutritious, savory paste
