A Bangladeshi man was persuaded to return his hotel room by a woman he met on Pattaya Beach, only to be assaulted and robbed by her and two accomplices in the early hours of 9 August.

The 35-year-old victim reported to Pol Lt Saijai Kamjulla, an investigator with Pattaya City Police, that the incident occurred at around 00:10. He had been walking along the beach when he struck up a conversation with a Thai woman. After getting along well, she asked him to return to his hotel room on Soi Phra Tamnak 4.

Once there, the woman claimed that two of her friends would be joining them. Shortly afterwards, two more Thai women entered the room. The trio then allegedly threatened and physically assaulted the victim before stealing all his cash, comprising 800 Singapore dollars, 4,000 Thai baht and 200 Malaysian ringgit, before fleeing the scene.

A local motorcycle taxi driver, who saw the victim walking outside his accommodation, with visible facial scratches, stopped to ask what had happened. Upon hearing his story, the driver offered to take him to the police station free of charge.

Police investigators have since launched a search, reviewing CCTV footage and gathering information in a bid to track down the suspects and bring them to justice.

Sounds a bit dodgy. I suspect all three of the assailants were probably capable of peeing while standing up. :coffee1:

Could also be three women in the 60 kg weight class against a man?

Don't underestimate their fighting skills.

Also because Bangladeshi currency is almost impossible to exchange.  Bangladeshi travelers need a hard currency to travel on

Yeah. I've been to Bangladesh for work and I couldn't exchange the leftover cash upon return to my home country.  Was about 80 GBP.  A couple of years later I exchanged it at a curry restaurant that I knew was run by Bangladehis, and I knew one of the staff was going to visit family!  Not the best exchange rate, but the curry was very tasty 😆

Indeed.

Much worse than the usual theft while in shower scheme.

Using physical violence.

Desperation among the working girls is growing. Some really have to struggle to make enough money just to pay for room and food.

"No customer".

Rigth. It started to get dangerous a while ago.Pattaya is NOT safe at all.

Seems like women one meet on a street  in Pattaya are "no go" – again and again news-stories about those untrustworthy ladies...:whistling:

Why would a Bangladeshi have 200 Ringit + 800 Singapore dollars?

Possibly because he's working in Singapore or Malaysia - lots of Bangladeshi construction workers. Plus as said above, good luck changing Bangladeshi Taka at Super Rich.

Cannot travel on 800 SGD (600 USD). But that's about the amount required by Thai immigration.

Well done to this motorcycle taxi driver!!  With the Thai bashing that sometimes happens on this forum it's really nice to read something good.

I ran out of gas once on a scooter a few kilos from my house and a local that had a shop where I stopped went to the nearest gas pump and brought some back for me. When I went to my house when they artillery was shooting to get some things, I had a flat tire right in front of the 7-11 that was hit. The news team that was there flagged down a pickup and they took me to my house with the scooter.

When I was driving on the flat to go to the next village from where I live, to try and get a ride back to the closest big town, another pickup stopped and loaded me up again, and then took me to a man who fixed my flat tire.

Locals have helped me quite a few times and vice-versa and I'll always think of the Thai Army as being there for this stupid skirmish that so far has saved my home and others in my village by getting the fighting stopped. I know the US tariff thing likely was the main reason why it stopped quick but it was still up to the Thais to stop it.

Who said he had that amount to travel?  Maybe he'd spent a lot of what he did have?
