Though they cans till seize anything over £1000 if they "suspect" its from anything illegal.......personally sick to death of nosey  people asking where xyz comes from, get ferked. Bankers the biggest conmen of  all time along with govts

They can if, as you say......

However, when I  take it out of my bank, I keep the withdrawal slips and if asked would just tell the truth - "it's from my savings and I'm going on holiday"

I'm too boring to be suspicious! 😁

Are you sure you can read?

My limit to other banks with UOB was set at 50.000, and I just successfully changed it to 2 million.

This is from the link you provided.  What part of "is accepting" don't you get?

Well, this is what the link I quoted says!

In the dark blue rectangle where you log in with your User ID and PIN/Password, you get mine by clicking on the bright orange icon labelled "Register Online" in the bottom left-hand corner.

Wrong.  Krungsri's online service has not been cancelled.  Neither has BBL's.  I've used both of then today.

Both are in the process of cancelling it (Krungsri has announced the cancellation,  BBL is rolling out the cancellation,  starting with new customers) and I think you know this very well.

As so often, your posts are semantics,  but very unhelpful.

@GreasyFingerssorry,  just realized you were faster

OMG!  We have reached "PEAK THAILAND"  The Thai version says "not accepting" but their "Translated to English" version say the ARE accepting it!   You can't make this up!  555!  No room for confusion in this system!!!!!

You know that there is a difference between "semantics" and "accuracy", yes?

The apps are secure, the people using them are idiots. Maybe before someone is allowed to use the apps, they must first take a special course on how to use them responsibly. Sorta of like proper training for driving, before handing out a license like it's free candy.

The Apps are Useless and not secure if one uses them In public/shops  they can be Monitored and  Hacked. At home on the Laptop/Computer  with Internet Banking one has a Better chance to stay safe with an OTP reply by Phone  .You and many people and the banks  know that but won't admit that. 👍

Never been "ripped off", or ever been hacked, been using computers for over 40 years, I'm also a programmer and IT engineer.......After many years of dealing with ignorant users, the biggest security issue is the users themselves, always has been.

As @GreasyFingers pointed out, enjoy your 6 weeks of being right.

But what makes this so sad is, you are misleading people.

My Thai bank found it: just let the bank take care of all my financial life, without my stupid, unsafe interference.

And mine (BKKB) has found it by placing (to all intents and purposes) insurmountable barriers in the way of registering for their useless app by insisting that you subject yourself to a face scanning routine which requires you to turn your face slowly to the left and then to the right, open your eyes wide and blink 3 times, and finally smile with your teeth clearly exposed. All this must be accomplished within 5 seconds max, or else you'll be gleefully auto-timed out! 🤣

There is a whole thread on the Banking forum dedicated to this particular issue:

The irony here is that the fallback solution is online banking -- but unfortunately several banks have closed that option (fortunately, Bangkok Bank isn't one of them). Bangkok Bank's default transfer amount is 500k.

Have never seen the utility of mobile banking. First and formost, my 80 year old eyes can't see the small screen. Secondly, I don't need the option to transfer money from my car or from a restaurant, using a mobile phone. If a transfer situation arises, the comfort of my home office's desktop -- or, if on the road, my laptop in a hotel room, suffice very nicely. And, paying bills realtime is where cash, or my 2% cashback credit card do the trick -- no fumbling around with a phone just to pay a bill.

Anyway, I know this makes no sense to the younger crowd. But, assuming most of the younger crowd at least have a laptop, online banking may may come back into vogue -- if they keep making mobile banking an annoying chore.

Thanks Jim as usual you save me the time & effort of going through the comments.

Thanks for the backup. With the emoji system these days no one knows who supports them.

I have a suggestion that I wish to make to my local Pheu Thai representative [having the right to vote of course due to paying tax]

Can we have a sliding scale to protect the vulnerable 65s and over. We all know that after you hit your 90s you don't eat very much, so a gradual lowering of ATM withdrawal and mobile app transfer limits is a sound idea. For vulnerable people in their 90s and above I suggest an eventual daily limit of 200 Baht per day. It's for their protection of course.

Kind regards

Feeling Safer

And suggest that those age limitations also become for those politicians to be limited by age  to become elected so that they make correct decisions for the Populations as they reach those vulnerable age category....( i think they would disagree ...)

Interesting development ..... maybe improvement about the 50 000 baht restriction ....a clarification from BOT  Thailand National bank

https://www.nationthailand.com/business/banking-finance/40054282

Bank of Thailand Clarifies 50,000 Baht Transfer Limit Applies Only to Vulnerable Groups

(An explanation page...)

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 20, 2025

 They just confirm:

If you are frugal and never transfer big sums,  and all of a sudden you need to transfer 500,000 for a hospital deposit - no way.

If you are boss of a scam center, regularky transferring huge amounts of money to known money laundering centers,  you won't have any limits.
