Suspended Thai PM Paetongtarn Shinawatra to Miss Court Ruling

Suspended Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra is set to skip the Constitutional Court's verdict reading this Friday. The court will rule on her telephone call with Cambodian Senate President Hun Sen, a matter that has caused quite a stir. Somkid Chuekong, deputy secretary-general for political affairs, broke the news today.

Instead of appearing in court, Paetongtarn will stay at Government House. She will join the Cabinet and Pheu Thai MPs to closely monitor the unfolding verdict. A representative will stand in her place at the court.

As for potential outcomes, the situation could see a shake-up. Somkid revealed that should Paetongtarn be ousted, Pheu Thai’s nominee for the prime ministerial role will be Chaikasem Nitisiri. The coalition parties are expected to hold strong, keeping their current governmental setup intact.

The upcoming court decision follows tumultuous political times for Paetongtarn, highlighting tensions between Thailand and Cambodia. The allegations centre on whether the phone call jeopardised Thailand’s national security by discussing sensitive political matters. Paetongtarn’s absence in court might suggest confidence in the government’s stability despite the uncertainty, reported Thai PBS World.

With the support of coalition partners, the Pheu Thai Party is ready for any fallout from the ruling. Paetongtarn’s political journey has faced hurdles, but the party assures continued governmental unity. This commitment shows a focus on maintaining balance and leadership throughout the pending court decision.

Observers are keenly watching the situation, with implications for Thailand's political landscape. Should the court rule against Paetongtarn, we anticipate the swift nomination of Chaikasem Nitisiri to ensure smooth political operations. The coalition’s unanimity remains a focal point as events progress.

Details surrounding the verdict will be critical for Thailand’s immediate political future. Paetongtarn has not provided any comments on the matter, but everyone's attention is focused on the Constitutional Court this Friday. Whether in support or opposition, the nation awaits to see how this chapter unfolds.

She probably has been informed of the result already ..............LOL

Her and her father are too busy handing out brown envelopes to be wasting time on less consequential things.

You are most likely correct in this assumption. I suspect the real reason for staying with the other MPs in her party is not to ensure transition smoothly. But instead to ensure she is with father and can ensure whoever is chosen will follow the Thaksin family rules for being a good puppet.

If she goes hopefully the WEF & OECD meddling will stop!

Why waste time with court appearances - - don't you know who my daddy is?

Time to go please take daddy and the rest of your clan along with the wacky new Health Minister. Go back to Dubai or wherever and stay the F out of Thai politics forever. Every time it seems daddy shows up people die.

Daddy is the cause of all the expats problems here along with the Thais in general. It is getting out of control.

So what next ? The tanks will again line up on Sukhumvit and around Nana and take over ?

No foreigner wants to end up in holiday on on the winter break with a new military coup in progress.

All this will harshly harm tourism for sure.

Can´t agree more. Just one thing. It´s not getting out of control. That line was passed a long time ago. ;-)

The Constitutional Court says no.

Time for a new PM.

Paetongtarn Shinawatra just got the boot.  My wife is dancing in the kitchen as this just came across on TV.  Obviously my wife is not a "Shin" fan-girl.

I came here when a coup was in progress.  In Bangkok.  These thing have no affect on foreigners who steer clear.

I hope this awful PT government falls, as it has been terrible for Thailand in so many ways... Thaksin and family has to go. It's galling to say it, but I was happier under Prayut than this Chinese CCP apologist stooge PT government... just gets worse and worse.

Nobody remains in doubt about "whoever is chosen." If push comes to shove, Chaikasem Nitisiri, the perpetual bridesmaid but never the bride, is the new "lady" in waiting already.

...unless PT have a secret candidate.

Oops...and she's gone.
