If Thailand wants to attract foreigners (and mainly our money). start rather by stopping all those absurd immigration rules, forms, reportings that are slowly destroying the nation and making foreigners want to go elsewhere.

Prices will double to enhance your experience.

Good.  That should stop at least some of the low quality tourists.

So what does this mean for the average traveler?

It means you will pay more for any sub standard room than you did before and now it will probably be called an hotel.

Thailand should pivot away from cheap mass tourism.

GET RID OF THE HOSTELS AND CHEAP TOURISTS. They turn away quality tourist.

How about clean the air

Let's wait and see with the new PM, how the foreigners will be treated now on visa issues. If it get's worse, maybe time to consider Vietnam to spend the 4 to 5 month winter break.

  • 1 month later...

Does this mean that it will be legal to rent out condo units, short term, on AirBnB ?

That would be very bad for people living there.

Another senseless statement.

Talking about rationalizing lodging related rule, while retaining hassles like TM30 only intended to create extra workload to the operators/property owners.

You're wrong and way off the mark. You should do some reseach and get a correct / valid understanding of the purpose of TM30.

Even with those absurd rules and forms people still want to live in Thailand, because the alternatives in SEA are even worse.

Vietnam is the only country that can compete with Thailand, but they don't even have long-term visas, except for employment/marriage visas.

I do think that if Vietnam came up with their own versions of the DTV, Thai Elite and that sort of stuff things could get interesting, but that hasn't happened yet (although there are rumors about upcoming long-term visas for 2026).

Why not also on LandBnB?
