Followed By

The use of cannabis is permitted strictly for five medical conditions: insomnia, chronic pain, migraines, Parkinson’s disease, and anorexia

Come on every recreational dope smoker in the world could have these symptoms indefinitely....

So to cut to the chase....

They want people to be free to smoke all the weed they want..

As long as the weed is bought through a few government hand picked connected growers who will be reaping massive profits....While Somchai grower starves...

This is all about profits for the few... Its not about quality products or anyones health at all....

They finally got a way to make money from dope to be able to comepete with the booze trade Thailand is going to to be dumbed down big time and soon full of broke hippies

I should imagine that money will matter rather a lot if you are stopped at the airport with a month's supply in your suitcase!

Sure does'nt sound like a medical user to me, more like a addicted damaged soul

Even if it is legal in both the departure and arrival countries, I don't think you want to put cannabis in a suitcase during international travel.  I don't know about the legalities, it just seems like it could go wrong.

yes better safe than sorry not take a single g  outside schengen  states

Bring these documents to a physician in Thailand to obtain your medical prescription. Alternatively, you may wish to reach out to the Thai Embassy in Berlin to acquire all necessary details.

I pass a weed shop every morning at 04:30 on my way to the park

You have insomnia, too?

i walk by several weed sellers on the sidewalk within 5 min walk of major police station...so far zero difference in their products, prices, or hours.  Maybe the cops didn't get the memo yet or need to finalize the price for these folks to keep on selling....or maybe when the cops walk by these same sellers they somehow don't notice them...

maybe if they shut them down they will reopen selling med certificates...probably more lucrative then selling weed.

Any country which permits drinking alcohol and smoking cigarettes should also allow the use of cannabis which is not harmful, and has medical benefits.

maybe the cops understand better than the media, that random proclamations from various people does not constitute a change in the law especially with no government currently in place

I can see a new forest of marijuana plants growing across the border in Myanmar and Cambodia. Adding to the methamphetamine problem. This just increases the drug problem for Thailand and adds a new problem for police. Also what happens to cbd and kratom? The medical community could be overwhelmed by requests for prescriptions. This is a bad decision by the puritanicals!

They should just only allow indoor smoking in designated areas. No outdoor smoking.

Do you know what Puritanical means?

I get your humour.... my motive is an alternative to the need of Cannabis

Just a desire to remain healthy, breathing fresh air not smoking weed.

It would be helpful if the retailers were required to show the Government's licence to sell the product, and the expiry date of the licence, at the entrance to their shops.

All shops are required to display their license in the shop, within view of all customers

However, it's written in Thai, even the numbers

Really, are you this naive to think of travelling with cannabis in your suitcase from Germany to Thailand?

Are you serious? Even if you have a prescription in Germany, what makes you think that it will be accepted in Thailand?

CWell, these are the new rules, but any changes on the ground.?

I am in Vietnam at the moment ,my next trip to Thailand will be in November, that is if weed is still available. If not my next Vietnamese visa run will be to the Philippines, where I haven't been in ages.

Thai law renders prostitution illegal but I vaguely remember spotting, on rare occasions, sex workers in LOS.

Nothing has changed on the ground outside of a few areas in BKK. And those are legally questionable.

Weed isn't going away. Very easy to find in Vietnam as well, and I'm pretty sure it was never legalized there

Here's an article that explains a bit more of the current situation here in Thailand:  https://www.channelweedthailand.com/2025/09/05/local-police-have-no-authority-to-raid-cannabis-shops/

Wtf didn't they do all this from the outset instead of f*cking people over? Donkeys.

More corruption in Thailand, the Dr's will be making a ton of money, you will get your scrips t a price,SHAME on Thailand

The doctors will be doing well out of it lots of new people having issues and needing a script and ganga to help with the problems

Just keep in mind that most of the so called doctors who prescribe cannabis are humble traditional Thai medicine doctors who don't charge the exorbitant prices of western doctors. Even fully specialist doctors, if you consult in a Thai hospital will charge you way less than what you would pay in the West.
