Phuket International Airport will carry out a full-scale emergency response drill on Friday, 5 September 2025, at 09:00, as part of its annual safety and security programme.

The exercise, conducted under the airport’s Contingency Plan and Emergency Plan, is designed to test safety procedures, strengthen coordination between agencies, and ensure staff readiness in the event of a real incident. Officials emphasised that the operation is only a simulation and poses no risk to passengers or the public.

In preparation for the event, Airport Director Monchai Tahanod chaired a tabletop exercise on 2 September, joined by Deputy Director for Operations and Maintenance Thuanchai Tansuriyawong, senior managers, airline representatives, business operators and local security and response agencies. The session reviewed emergency procedures and clarified the roles and responsibilities of each organisation involved.

The live drill will simulate the discovery of a suspicious item within the airport, requiring a coordinated response by multiple agencies. Airport authorities said such exercises are essential to maintaining high standards of safety and security.

Passengers and visitors are asked not to take photographs or videosduring the drill to avoid misunderstandings.

“Safety and preparedness are our top priorities,” the airport said in a statement. “We apologise for any inconvenience and appreciate the cooperation of all passengers and visitors.”

For further information, travellers can contact AOT via 1722 or Phuket Airport at 0-7635-1111.
