A 59-year-old man was shot and robbed in Surat Thani on the morning of 5 September, police reported.

The victim, identified as Mr. Samran, had just left a nearby funeral when he was confronted by two masked men on motorcycles at around 05:45, near the 401 Road junction, Ban Thamniap, in the Khiri Rat Nikhom district.

According to police, the assailants ordered Mr. Samran to hand over his valuables before shooting him twice in the torso and seizing a 5-baht gold necklace. He was taken to Khiri Rat Nikhom Hospital with injuries, which authorities described as serious but not life-threatening.

Investigating officer Sub-Lieutenant Anirut Pholrak of Khiri Rat Nikhom police station said forensic teams and rescue workers were called to the scene, where traces of blood were found near the road. The attackers fled immediately and their identities and whereabouts remain unknown.

Police have launched a manhunt for the two suspects and are urging anyone with information to come forward. “We are following all leads to ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice,” Sub-Lieutenant Anirut said.
