In a heartwarming ceremony yesterday, 119 children with disabilities in Phuket received scholarships to aid their education and personal development. The event, held at Phibun Sawatdi Municipality School, was orchestrated by the Khun Phum Foundation in partnership with the Phuket Special Education Centre. Notably, it was attended by Governor Sophon Suwannarat and representatives from the foundation, chaired by Her Royal Highness Princess Ubolratana Rajakanya Sirivadhana Barnavadi.

The scholarships, each valued at 5,000 baht and totalling 595,000 baht, were personally presented by Princess Ubolratana. Her message, read by Governor Sophon, celebrated the recipients and their families, urging them to utilise the funds to unlock their children's potential and enrich their lives.

The scholarships signify more than monetary assistance; they are a beacon of encouragement and hope for the children, their families, and educators. The Khun Phum Foundation, under Princess Ubolratana’s patronage, has consistently advocated for the betterment of children with special needs throughout Thailand. Its mission encompasses widening educational opportunities, fostering societal inclusion, and extending support to families tackling challenges related to autism and disabilities.

Over the years, the foundation's initiatives have markedly enhanced the lives of children with special needs, empowering them to lead fulfilling lives and participate actively in their communities. Governor Sophon highlighted the crucial role of community and government backing, stating that such efforts are essential for building a more inclusive and empathetic society.

The ceremony saw families, educators, and local leaders come together, all unified by a shared vision of improving prospects for children with autism and disabilities in Phuket. As the event concluded, a spirit of gratitude prevailed among the parents, optimistic that the scholarships would not only bolster their children’s education but also cultivate broader acceptance and opportunities within society.

These scholarships are a testament to the community's commitment to inclusivity, and the hope is that they will pave the way for a brighter, more inclusive future for all.
