In a disturbing incident in Ho Chi Minh City, a woman claims she was viciously assaulted by her dentist after expressing concerns about a painful dental procedure.

Tien Thao, 31, reported to local authorities that she suffered a violent attack at the hands of a dentist named Chinh at the Tuyet Chinh Dental Clinic. The confrontation, which reportedly occurred on 3rd September, escalated into violence when Thao confronted Chinh about complications from her braces.

Thao recounted that during the heated exchange, Chinh attacked her with a metal rod, strangled her, and subjected her to verbal abuse. In a shocking addition to the assault, he allegedly confiscated her mobile phone and eyeglasses, valued at roughly 54,000 Thai Baht, and destroyed them. The harrowing incident was captured on video by a friend who accompanied Thao.

Her dental ordeal began when she paid approximately 59,000 Thai Baht for braces at the clinic in 2021. However, upon removal of the braces in August 2025, Thao suffered excruciating pain. A subsequent evaluation at another medical facility revealed significant bone damage, prompting her to seek answers from Chinh, which tragically led to the alleged assault.

Currently, Thao is receiving treatment for her neck injuries at Hoan My Hospital. Meanwhile, the local police have launched a thorough investigation into the matter, aiming to uncover the full extent of the alleged misconduct.

This incident has raised serious questions about patient safety and practitioner accountability in the region. Dental practices in Vietnam generally uphold high standards, but this isolated case shines a light on potential vulnerabilities in patient protection and the need for vigilance in professional conduct.

As the investigation unfolds, the medical and legal communities alike wait for further developments and hope for justice to be served swiftly.

Why do so many women have these braces here?

And apparently, there are serious risks? Bone damage sounds pretty bad.

No it doesn't. Vietnam is not Thailand or any other country in the region and this was an isolated incident.

No it doesn't and this has literally nothing to do with Thailand.

A good friend would have stepped in and tried to stop the assault, not stood back and filmed it.
