Authorities have arrested Ms. Thanatchathorn, wanted in connection with a sexual assault case dating back seven years, as well as three outstanding Forex fraud cases totaling over 100 million baht. The arrest ended her long period of evasion after she was traced to a train in Pattani province.

The case stems from an incident on 12 June 2018 on Koh Samui, Surat Thani, when a woman reported to local police that Ms. Thanatchathorn had sexually assaulted her after a shared meal. According to the victim, after dinner, she asked to be taken home, but Ms. Thanatchathorn refused and took her to her residence instead, where a struggle ensued, culminating in the assault. The victim filed a complaint immediately after the incident.

Following the assault, Ms. Thanatchathorn fled abroad and remained at large for years. Police continued investigations and received a tip-off that she was spotted at a railway station in Sateng, Yala. Officers tracked the train to Khok Pho, Pattani, where they confirmed her presence, arrested her, read her the charges and informed her of her legal rights. She admitted all allegations.

Upon arrest, Ms. Thanatchathorn was processed at the Water Police Station 2, Division 7, Pattani, before being handed over to Koh Samui Police for legal proceedings. Authorities also discovered that she faced three additional criminal cases involving defrauding investors through Forex trading, with a combined loss exceeding 100 million baht, under separate warrants.

The operation was conducted under the direction of Pol. Lt. Gen. Jiraphop Puridet, with Pol. Maj. Gen. Setthasiri Nippaya and other senior officers leading the arrest team. The Water Police emphasized professionalism and adherence to legal procedures throughout the operation.

Authorities note that the arrest highlights ongoing efforts to pursue individuals evading justice, particularly in complex financial crimes linked to online trading.

Further investigations into her Forex fraud cases are expected to continue, with victims potentially being contacted for restitution. Police have stated they will maintain vigilance against similar schemes in the future.
