The comments  by Trump and others have just created a basis for dismissal or contesting the process on the basis of  bias. There is an accepted rule of conduct that political persons must never ever comment directly on matters that will be before the courts. Trump broke the golden rule when he  said he hopes  the accused gets the death penalty. He has biased the process. People in public positions of authority must never do this. 

 

22 year olds don't just put together assassination plots like this unless they are deeply troubled or put up to it. No I do not excuse the  killing, but there is more to the accused than the media bites we are given. I expect that this is one F-ed up person. He probably did not have much of a home life with a father like his. Think about it. Most anyone if they had screwed up would either have a parent who tries to cover up, or a parent that would have expected the kid to accept the consequences, but would have made sure they were not abandoned and would have legal counsel when they surrendered. The accused was forced to surrender by his father without any legal counsel, even though the father knows that the kid will likely be shot by firing squad.
