A 52-year-old man was killed in the early hours of 15 September after his motorcycle was struck by a Mercedes-Benz in Pathum Thani. The crash happened at around 03:00 on Erawan 1 Road, Khlong Song, Khlong Luang District. Police, forensic doctors from Thammasat University Hospital and rescue workers attended the scene.

The victim was identified as Mr. Sunan, aged 52, from Khlong Song, Khlong Luang. He was found dead beside the road, near his overturned Honda Click motorcycle, which showed heavy damage on the right side. About 10 metres away, officers found the Mercedes-Benz with minor damage at the front and a broken right mirror, driven by 19-year-old Mr. Phanuwich, who was waiting at the scene.

Traffic police reported that a pickup truck driver who witnessed the crash said he had been following the motorcycle as it prepared to turn across a bridge over a canal. At that moment, the Mercedes overtook the pickup at speed and collided forcefully with the motorcycle. Mr. Phanuwich told police he had been driving to drop off his girlfriend in Khlong Five and confirmed he was overtaking when the collision occurred.

Police photographed the scene and arranged for the victim’s body to be taken by Ruamkatanyu Foundation volunteers to Thammasat University Hospital for a post-mortem. Officers also said they would review CCTV footage from the area to determine the precise cause of the collision.

Investigators took Mr. Phanuwich to Khlong Luang Police Station for questioning and testing. He will be subject to further investigation to establish whether charges should be laid.

To my understanding a teen(ager) is a person up to 19 years old?

Or what is your problem.

19yr can have a valid driving license.

In a Merc I call them spoiled brats.

Sounds like overtaking near a bridge?

Forbidden but who cares.

His family will just pay off the police and everyone moves on.

"Whether "  charges should be laid , there should not even be a question about that,

although he was driving a Merc and we dont know who his dad is yet....

And enough for a big funeral celebration and some compensation to the survivors.

ok, i did some research. as a non-native english speaker i learned that a 19-year-old is still called a teen, because it comes from the word "nineteen" ...

in my language, you are a teenager only until 17. from 18 on, you are considered an adult: your signature is legally valid for contracts, you can vote, you can drive a car and you are treated as an adult under the law ...

so i don’t have a problem with it, i just learned something new ... that terms and definitions can be different in different languages ...

The idea of being a teen in English is purely linguistic not legal.

English is my second language, understanding of the teen period came as soon as I learnt how to count up to 20.

Teenager (English) is a loanword in many languages with some having a direct equivalent to the age range word. The idea of using number suffix to define a range is not exclusive to English.
