Utah Seeks Death Penalty ,News

Featured Replies

7 counts  with a notice to seek the Utah Death Penalty in the Assassination of Mr. Kirk.

First Step is Bringing Charges. Now its up to Utah to prove their case.

Trying to be as Transparent as possible, the Authorities present the counts.

2:29 video.

The story is based on a NYP report

If they can prove their case then the death sentence is appropriate.  Of course the appeals and delays will take over 10 years which waters down the deterrent effect of a death sentence.  That and the fact they worry far more about his comfort while getting his sentence than he did about his victim.

He could  ask to waive the delays if convicted and proven guilty and meets the States requirements for the ultimate penalty.

"Under Utah law, the death penalty may only be imposed for aggravated murder if the prosecution files a formal notice of intent to seek the death penalty".

Google Ai:

"In Utah, a person sentenced to death can choose to waive their appeals, which can shorten the process to execution".

Utah has only executed eight people since the reinstatement of the death penalty by the Supreme Court in 1976.

And in Utah, Gary Gilmore was the first person executed after this decision. His sentence was carried out by firing squad.

That said, I can't see Mr. Robinson being executed, assuming he is found guilty.

trump said, in an Oval Office presser yesterday, that Robinson was a "smart guy" and the Left radicalized him via the internet.

I think that will be the defense, which would ameliorate capital punishment.

US President Donald Trump said Monday that the suspect accused of killing conservative American activist Charlie Kirk was radicalized online, blaming left-wing extremism for the attack.

"I can tell you he didn't work alone on the internet, because it seems that he became radicalized on the internet," Trump told reporters. "That's just by watching the same things that you're watching and hearing."

Trump described the suspect as someone with "wonderful parents" who lived in a "wonderful neighborhood" and was a "smart guy, great marks, great student." But he said "something happened to him over a fairly short period of time."

"It looks like he was radicalized over the internet, and it's radicalized on the left," Trump continued.

Oh they are going to kill him no doubt…..if proven he did it then ok same goes for anyone in my view. I do support the death penalty with this caveat……leave the appeal process as is death is final give the accused every opportunity to try and save their life.no big deal life in prison is the same as death anyway.

Oh I hope this ghastly death penalty is abolished!

I have no feelings about it either way.

Question ,How about the victim view?

Would you consider that. I would.

I added up what it costs taxpayers to house and feed an oxygen thief for 40 or 50 years at $50k per annum (or more in maximum security), and I disagree.

Hanging and the guillotine have their place, being instantaneous and a lot more humane than shooting a guy in the neck.
