A two-month-old boy remains in critical condition after being beaten by his father in Bang Phra, Nakhon Chai Si district, Nakhon Pathom. The attack occurred on 16 September 2025 after the mother ran from the house following a domestic dispute. Neighbours reported that the father assaulted the infant to punish the mother.

The incident took place in Moo 1, Ban Khlong Chonprathan. According to witnesses, the mother had been kicked once in the rib by her husband but escaped without her child. The father then attacked the baby, causing severe internal and external injuries, some of which appeared to be previous wounds. The couple’s stepchild was also reportedly subjected to abuse by the father.

Authorities were alerted through a local social worker, Ton Aor, who coordinated with the Child and Family Services and the Department of Social Development. The mother initially did not report the incident due to fear. Officials confirmed that legal proceedings would be initiated even without her complaint.

Senior provincial police, led by Police Major General Pongphan Wongmanethet, instructed Nakhon Chai Si Police Station to apprehend the suspect, identified only as Mr A. He was taken into custody and underwent a drug test, the result was not disclosed, before being formally charged with assault against the child. Child protection officers will oversee the prosecution process.

Medical personnel reported the infant remains in a critical condition with life-threatening injuries. Authorities emphasised the case is being treated as child abuse, with ongoing investigations to assess any further risks to the family. Officials also highlighted that the incident may not have been the first instance of abuse.

The suspect remains in police custody as authorities pursue charges. Social services will continue to monitor the welfare of the mother and other children in the household. The case has prompted renewed attention to child protection measures in the district.
