Authorities have arrested a woman providing dental services without a licence in Pluak Daeng, Rayong. The incident occurred at a local clinic, where the suspect was caught performing a dental scaling procedure on a patient.

The Dental Council of Thailand, together with the Department of Health Service Support and the Consumer Protection Police Division (CPPD), conducted the inspection following complaints from the public. Officers discovered that the clinic lacked a visible business licence, had no licensed dental practitioners on duty and allowed an unlicensed individual to carry out treatment, all of which are offences under the law.

The arrested woman was immediately taken into custody for legal proceedings. The Dental Council has indicated that further investigations will determine whether any licensed dentists associated with the clinic were complicit. If so, they may face disciplinary action, including the possible revocation of their professional licences.

Officials emphasised the importance of verifying the credentials of dental practitioners before receiving treatment. The Dental Council advised patients to check the practitioner’s licence status and area of expertise via its official website and to ensure their names are displayed at clinics.

Clinics are also urged to verify that any dentist they employ holds a valid licence to prevent legal violations and safeguard patients. Graduates of dental programmes, whether trained in Thailand or abroad, who do not hold a licence must not practise dentistry, as doing so is illegal.

Key Takeaways

• A woman was arrested in Rayong for providing dental services without a valid licence.

• Clinics must ensure all practising dentists hold valid licences to comply with the law.

• Patients are advised to verify dentist credentials before undergoing treatment.

Be interesting to see her face and know her name, seems to be an awful lot of "dental clinics" opened recently throughout Rayong province.

  • 3 weeks later...

Before any dentist can work in a clinic the owner of that clinic must send a form to the local health office with copies of the license of the part time dentist and their doc from the dental council. Then that office will do the checks and issue a blue certificate that is put on the door when they start.

That clinic didnt follow the procedure and now they lost their reputation.
