Four Bangladeshi nationals who paid over 38,000 baht to be smuggled into Thailand from Cambodia have been arrested by Thai security forces in Sa Kaeo province. The men, who were abandoned in a sugarcane field near the border, were detained on 23 September and handed over to police for legal action.

The arrests were carried out by the Burapha Task Force, Aranyaprathet Special Task Unit, and the 12th Ranger Regiment patrol unit. During a routine border patrol, officers spotted four foreign men walking through farmland near Ban Kud Hin, Moo 4, Khlong Nam Sai sub-district, Aranyaprathet district, approximately 550 metres from Highway 3383. The men were stopped and questioned, with interpreters confirming they were Bangladeshi nationals in possession of valid passports.

Interviews revealed the group had left Bangladesh in 2023 to work in Vietnam, where they remained after their visas expired. Seeking a way back home, they travelled into Cambodia through natural border crossings and stayed in Poipet. While there, they contacted a Cambodian broker to arrange illegal passage into Thailand.

The men reported paying the broker USD 1,200 (about 38000 baht) for transport. The Cambodian driver collected them from Poipet and led them to the Thai–Cambodian border, instructing them to walk into Thailand where another vehicle would allegedly pick them up. Instead, the broker left them behind and they were subsequently caught by Thai soldiers.

Authorities recorded the arrest at the 1206 Ranger Company base before transferring the four men to Khlong Nam Sai Police Station. They now face legal proceedings under the law., with officials seeking further action against the Cambodian broker involved.
