Ora Good Cat

Featured Replies

Hi, I've seen that GWM have a promotion for the Ora Good Cat. They are on sale for 599,000 Baht. Does anyone have any experience of this model? Pros and cons. It would be used as a second car. Thanks.

I think the MG4 is a better car.

It'll be used as a runabout more than anything so the Ora's discounted price does attract me more than the MG. Thanks for replying.

Rock hard ride for rear passengers if that is something that you have to consider.

Price is about the same, and the MG4 comes with a lifetime battery warranty.

Daughter said the ride was a little rough, and same for the NETA, although she would be putting on some highway kms, not just knocking around town.

Odd, cos my Neta V is great, no complaints about the suspension.

She was used to riding in the MG ZS, so a bit spoiled, and ZS far from a luxury car.  For around town, and lower speeds, most cars are fine.   But on the highway, at 90 kph or more, not so good, along with road noise.  Road noise was the worst.

Our VOIS s & Mazda 2 were POS, but did serve us well, drivetrain wise and knocking around town.  On the highway, is where the quality or lack of the little things were too obvious.

My daughter had a test drive in the Good Cat, and then in the MG4.  We bought the MG4.

The OGC has a more premium feel to the interior, it's very feminine looking, but I got sick in the back of it on the test drive.  It's also a lot less power than the MG4.

The MG4 is a lot faster than the OGC and handles like a hot hatchback (think Golf GTI 16v), it's bigger inside and has an unlimited battery warranty, it's a lot nicer to drive.

They are both about the same price and build quality.

Thank you. The MG is very well priced and will warrant a test drive. I have noticed quite a few MG charging stations too. I like the rather retro look of the Good Cat but the MG 4 looks okay as well. My worry is that I'll go in the MG showroom and emerge with a much more expensive X-Power 😅.

Thank you, Lou. That won't be a concern.

The need for speed  :cheesy:

Our ZS putt putts along at mere 8+ secs to get to 100 kph.  So slow, but a bit faster than the ICE version @ 12+ secs.

Check out the S5 while there, as a bit more comfy, for a wee bit more.   S5 is the replacement for the ZS, as being discontinued as BEV, and reincarnated as a hybrid, or so I read.

I was an EV skeptic but after ordering a Bolt car to take me to hospital a large BYD arrived at my house. I was very impressed with it but it's a little on the expensive side for my needs.

Thanks for your advice and I will definitely consider the MG4 now.

ZS is silly priced, since the S5 and MG4 are pretty much to the same specs (battery / range), and cheaper.

Ours is 2022 and the only option back then, except for the BYD Atto 3, that had just arrived to TH.  Already having the ICE version, so stuck with what we knew and liked.   Daughter has the Atto 3, and nice, but we'd still get the ZS, if only 2 choices.   Only for the seat, as Atto's feels a bit small for me.

The MG4 looks like a good fit for me.

I think you should hold out for this ORA model.  I had to do a double take when I saw one on the road here in China.  Kind of a "what's wrong with this picture?" thing:

Will it come to Thailand though?

The only complain I heard about the OGC was the small trunk volume, which can be a turn off if you have kids for example.

Yes, a small trunk can be a problem with kids. But once they get bigger, I just seat them inside. Then they don't rattle around as much either.

I recently purchased the GWM Ora Good Cat Pro 400 before the New Year and received a significant discount from the dealer. My car has never had any problems and runs quite smoothly. Even my friend, who had GWM Ora Good Cat around 4 years ago, has had no problems.

Long-distance driving costs 1.10 baht/km, while short-distance driving with a traffic jam costs 0.70 baht/km. Most of the time, I use ECO energy. I tried using Sports Energy once, and it is extremely fast, reaching 80km/hr in 4 seconds. I always recharge my car at a public EV station.
