The Crime Suppression Division (CIB) launched “CIB AI DAY 2025” on 25 September to introduce artificial intelligence tools designed to enhance operational efficiency and reduce unnecessary workloads. The initiative aims to allow officers more time for complex investigations.

The event was co‑presided over by Pol Lt‑Gen Jiraphop Puridej, Commissioner of the CIB, and Pol Maj‑Gen Athip Pongsivaphi, Commander of the Technology Crime Suppression Division. A key highlight was the presentation of “ready‑made prompts”, AI command sets created from ideas submitted by 82 police officers. These innovations reportedly reduce work steps by up to 60% and cut processing time by as much as 85%. The results will be stored in a central e‑Learning repository for use across the force.

Specialised AI products were also unveiled, including ‘iJustice Chatbot’ to assist and communicate sensitively with victims of sexual offences; ‘Detective Assistant’, a tool for organising investigative data; and ‘CIB Little Cop AI’, a cartoon media tool for public crime prevention awareness.

Pol Lt‑Gen Jiraphop said the division is committed to developing capabilities in three phases: raising awareness of AI, allowing officers to experiment with AI applications and applying AI in real work. He emphasised that AI is not a threat to employment but a critical tool, stating: “Those who cannot use AI will lose out.” He added the goal is to reduce unnecessary human workload so officers can focus on complex investigations, aiming to position the CIB as a frontline force that meets the challenges of increasingly sophisticated crime.

Mr Ruangroj Poonpol, Chairman of Kasikorn Business‑Technology Group (KBTG), which provided training and AI system development for the CIB, said he was proud of the results. He noted AI must be developed continuously, as criminals also adopt advanced technology, and the “faster one adapts, the better the prevention.” He encouraged the public to follow CIB’s updates for crime‑prevention information.

The CIB plans to expand AI adoption across policing tasks, refine the tools presented and monitor their effectiveness in live operations. The initiative is part of the CIB’s broader commitment to modernising policing under the motto: “Professional, Neutral, Alongside the People.”

Any addition to any form of intelligence would be a welcome addition to policing in Thailand. 🙂
