Why Are Thai Companies So Quiet About the Border Closure

Featured Replies

Im not going to allege that the Cambodian market is a make it or break it for Thai companies but based on a trip to the market the following brands arent being sold in Cambodia:

TGM

Meiji

Tiparos

Megachef

Nautilus

CP

Betagro

There is more but you get the picture.

Why arent these companies pushing for the silliness to end.

If the citizens of both countries had more of a say so, without fear, things would go back to where they belong. Bordering countries aren't supposed to be fighting each other, as most look to the other country as trade and work, which is needed by both. The agenda of the few in power is what keeps them in control, as it does in many countries without a democracy. I would think most of the people here aren't too concerned with the land and temple situations, as they like to pray wherever they want, and allowing both countries free access to those temples, along with everything else, would make a much safer future. Brainwashing happens to all ages, clearly evident in what goes on.

Didn't your lot bring heavy shelling apparatus to the border,  and as you reside in Cambodia, what have you done to help your jungle friends...? 🤔

Ok, so if Mexico wish to move the border 25 feet into US land, you would say Trump was crazy if he opposed to that?

It would be totally ok for you, right?

He´s done nothing. Just a lot of talking as usual. Let´s see what he has to say about my reply above. 😂

Bigger fish to fry? I seriously doubt their exports to Cambodia are all that significant, or as you already said, "make it or break it".

When I was working in pre-putsch Burma, there was little evidence of Thai product despite the long, common border but loads of Malaysian stuff. Are you seeing any Malaysian stuff?

Somehow killing poor peasants who have nothing and displacing them from their homes over a border dispute is a bit excessive, but hey, clearly you support killing poor folks over a line on a map.

Your Trump whataboutism is more of your usual ignorance.

Everyhting has been replaced. Dutch cheese, Viet and Polish milk, local cold cuts (excellent), Viet Tuna, etc. My point is how much is it actually costing these companies. I know the local border folks complain of the loss of business. So are the Japanese.

The same thing you do about your ignorance. Nothing.

You hatred of humanity is showing again.

That was no answer? Just avoidance as usual when the going get too tough for you.

You just avoid the fact that your patriotism is blinding you to the facts of other countries situations.

Again, how would you feel if Mexico wanted to move the border and take a piece of the states?

So you think Cambodia is at fault. Thats fine, nothing to do with my point, which is adequately set forth.

Irrelevant. The situations are totally different. Your bias is showing.

Guess I showed you to be a fool, again.

How is it you keep getting everything wrong, I asked what you have done regarding the Thai/Cambodian thing. Obviously nothing, just point at others.  🙄

Plus, I am not from the North of England, far from it, but you carry on trying to dodge things, with your rather lame wit........:saai:

The respective anti Thai and anti Khmer attitudes in the locals is disconcerting. Especially when you think about how the locals on both sides are suffering.

The little guys always get hit: if TGM was exporting 100,000 kilos of meat a week to Cambodia, where do you make up the loss of production.

The whole situation almost hurts Thailand more, as Vietnam, as alwys, is willing to take up the slack. Tourism takes a hit of course, but the Cambodians can absorb being poorer better. Siem Reap is very dead right now, rainy season of course but deader than last year. Bangkok too.
