Mother Board Problem.

Featured Replies

Hi there, I have an ASUS Sonic Master laptop with a 13" screen. I took it to a repair guy and he told me the motherboard was shot. I asked him how much to replace the motherboard and all he said was to expensive. So I'm not sure if the replacement was that expensive or he was trying to sell me a new laptop. So has any one got any idea of the cost to replace a motherboard for this model laptop?

Look at the sticker on the  bottom that gives the exact ASUS model number, then search for 'ASUS model# motherboard replacement'

Is it an old laptop? If so, it might not be possible to obtain a replacement mobo at a reasonable cost. You might be better off buying a new laptop with a warranty. ASUS will have an office in Bangkok, so you could always contact them.

I had a friend with a Lenovo laptop that was a few years old. The screen went, and the usual repair places couldn't fix it for some reason. The cost of getting a genuine screen fitted was almost what he paid for the laptop, he told me, so wasn't worth it.

The laptop in question is 4 years old and it's been used daily.

There is a very good guy in Bang Saray, highly regarded, if you fancy a trip out for a second opinion.

If its only 4 years old I would think there are replacement motherboards available on Lazada and Shopee..whether the cost of

the board and taking the laptop apart to replace it is worth it  could be marginal..labour is cheap here but some of them are a right pain to disassemble and then reassemble

Motherboard cost: This is the most unpredictable part of the cost. A new motherboard for an entry-level VivoBook might be available for as little as $200–$300 (approx. 7,300–11,000 THB), but a high-end gaming or workstation laptop motherboard could cost over $600 (approx. 22,000 THB). Sourcing older or specific models can be challenging, and you may need to rely on the repair shop's supply chain.

Labor fees: ASUS's official repair service charges a 1,000 THB operating fee for out-of-warranty repairs, not including the cost of parts. Third-party shops will have their own labor rates, which can sometimes be more competitive, but prices for a major repair can still range into the thousands of baht.

Is it just the Motherboard or are other parts failing sticky keys in keyboard battery etc etc

It seems the model number won't be forthcoming. Another one bites the dust...
