Obviously in his childish imagination his interpretation of how his fantasy would play out severely lacked comprehension of the reality of his action, and the risk to himself personally. Maybe he was coerced,  maybe not, but it demonstrates another example of stupidity of a young naive guy.

Maybe but we all learn from experience where ever we are and we still do silly things when we are young or middle aged. In our day we used to drink more than Gen Z and alcohol is a major drug in excess.  We look back on experiences and think would I do that again?  Thailand gave us all different things opportunities some good some bad. I guess the young are lucky often getting a lot from travel, new relationships etc., If I was travelling around at 60 or 70+ I would know that for Thais money is everything because it is such a very unequal society so I would be aware of everything I did. Unlike UK or Europe thete is little or no welfare state and life can often be hard.

Were married 4 months before my 30th birthday thinking I knew what I were doing and the future planned.

Separated aged 52 thinking WTF have I done, losing everything, never done wrong, she cheated and had abortions.

Aged 56 recovered financially and built a retirement home via a Thai company.

Retired at 59 and 4 months saying "Wish I could turn the clock back"!!

Now 70, at peace with myself realising that guys never grow out of anything, learn by mistakes not to repeat same...

I think

Final and biggest mistake probably haven't got medical insurance 🤣😂

Those young lads tend to pop up again—usually about the time holiday romance turns out not to be the big ticket after all, surprise surprise.

stupid decisions for sure and  absolutely the lowest of the lowest not to tell his mom - or get in contact with her when he had the opportunity.

Must have been the guy who nearly cleared out my bank accounts on Sunday..well spoken young English lad....really had me going till the end.

No doubt he is unwillingly manning a phone Burma side....

i feel bad for his parents. But the man is 19 and an adult albeit a stupid one.

So every single person lured into Myanmar or Cambodia to work in a scam centre is stupid and deserves what they get. I haven't seen this case before and not seen it on any news in the UK. Not to say that it is out there and I just haven't seen it. Telling that the UK news is not covering it.

No need to feel much empathy for him as he clearly knew he was breaking the law crawling under a fence, so FAFO.

His mum is a different story and I feel sorry for her having such an irresponsible son.

Honour’s mother described him as quiet but intelligent, with significant computer skills—a potential target for call centre gangs

I reckon Scammers aren't that intelligent just good at talking and manipulatin vulnerable people.

It is funny that when Asian nationals are lured into the scams then the usual people aren't here saying how stupid the were.

Now Thailand is paying the price with far fewer Chinese tourists visiting.

Given the timinig, age, and nationality, I wouldn't be surprised if he's somehow related to the other UK lad

Are you suggesting the British are interbred ? that's a new low in insults

I hope they find him soon, for his mum and family we pray for a save return. 19yrs is not that old, likely & typically age you leave 6th form or college. God speed.

He may not want to be found , this could all have been planned for some time, all this attention might be the last thing he wants

This story reads like the profile of the typical IT kid. I expect that he never touched a real live naked female before arriving in Thailand.

He is weak.....no sympathy for this generation...none.

Guess you haven't any children?

The difference between these youngsters & us oldies is that, because of modern technology, the temptations and opportunities are now way beyond anything we faced at that age.

I've spoken to the son of a good friend of mine who was 13 at the time, and the stuff that he was telling me that his friends and classmates at school were doing based on Instagram and Tik Tok challenges were very scary and potentially fatal. Fortunately he had enough common sense to not go along with the dangerous nonsense.

Well done for making me dribble coffee down my chin!
