Our Future King.

A doccumentary to be shown soon shows Prince William opening up on the Monarchy and what changes he will make once he is Crowned king of England. He is young looks at the Country as a local where he can be spotted on the Terraces of Villa Park the home of Aston Villa with his eldest son wearing the clubs coulours and supporting the  team with rest of the fans when villa score. He is filmed in a Pub drinking a pint of Cider, doesn't live in a Palace he lives in a house with his missus and kids. He will not rule with stuffiness like  old monarchs and his missus is fit as well. So looking at our future king and Queen I can see a bright future for our Monarchy under King William.

I just hope he doesn't get on the wrong side of the lefties.  Or it may be Harry and what's her name.

Big fan here of William and Kate.  Not so much for that other guy's wife.  He may be okay if he can get shed of her.

The last King of England was William III (William of Orange), who died in 1702.

Yes, it matters!

Silly me. I always thought that the last King of the UK was George VI and he died on 06 February 1952. It could have been Edward VIII as he was King from 29 January 1936 until he abdicated in December 1936.

It is now King Charles III who became King on the death of his Mother Queen Elizabeth II on 08 September 2022.

Yes, it does matter.

King Charles III IS my King and I swore my allegiance to him (as an ex serviceman) after Queen Elizabeth II died.

Correct of course.

The OP said king of ENGLAND not the UK.

Back on topic (honest).

If this documentary does actually refer to the "King of England" then it's an automatic "not watch".

semantics.

But King William of Orange was William III and II also known as William of Orange, was the sovereign Prince of Orange from birth, Stadtholder of Holland, Zeeland, Utrecht, Guelders,

Does that mean that I am Dutch and should get a pension from Holland and get it updated every year?

No joke. I thought this was a Trump thread.

I hate to admit it, but so did I and came here with my mod sword out of its scabbard!! :whistling:

"I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

Reading the title, I thought you were referring to Trump. The way he has been behaving, Trump could anoint himself as "The King" of USA.

MOD hat on!

OK, we can play the semantics game of course, after all I started it :whistling:

But let's not bring You Know Who into it, please!

Why do you serve someone?

Because it is MY choice. I was proud to serve my country in the military for 25 years and once again, it was MY choice. I swore my allegiance to the Queen in 1960 and once again to her son in 2022.

If I am still around when King Charles III leaves the throne, and his son, William becomes King William V I will swear my allegiance to him in turn.

AI Overview
When Prince William becomes King, he is most likely to be known as King William V, as he is the fifth monarch in the United Kingdom to have the name William. However, he does have the option to choose a different regnal name from his given name or any of his other middle names, such as King Arthur, King Philip, or King Louis. While not automatic, choosing his given name is the most probable scenario given current traditions.

King Arthur would be a good title for him.

I can explain it to you, but you don't seem to be capable of understanding it.

Are YOU not proud enough to serve your own country in the military?

Nobody has attacked England since ww2.

Does King of the Britons sound better?

Yup, I know.

And I was responding to those who decided to introduce You Know Who.

Let's avoid this becoming a moderation discussion or I'll have to suspend myself too!

I am proud of what UK/GB/whatever was, the country my parents fought for. Today, I wouldn't urinate on the place if it was on fire, let alone go live there again. Tow it into mid-Atlantic and use it for target practice.

Yeah, and since the other one was mythical he won't need a regnal.

I expect he will however, rather boringly, be William V.

Nice baiting but I don't lick anything except hot chix nipples - but that other subject is off-limits on this forum.

Good word regnal. Had to look it up.

William will be the first English king since Harold.
