A 45-year-old man has been arrested in Bangkok after snatching a cash box from an ATM outside a bank, claiming he needed the money to pay debts and gamble on online slot machines. The theft occurred on 3 October in front of a TMBThanachart Bank (TTB) branch in Nong Chok district. Police recovered most of the stolen money and apprehended the suspect within hours.

Police received a report from a female bank employee who had stepped outside to replace the deposit machine’s cash box. She said a man in his 40s, dressed in a black T-shirt, white shorts and sandals, approached her and asked about loan procedures. While she was distracted, he grabbed the cash box containing 167,000 baht and fled on a green-and-black Honda Giorno motorcycle.

Investigators quickly reviewed CCTV footage and identified the suspect’s vehicle. The bike was registered to 42-year-old Benjawan, who confirmed the suspect was her husband, Jiraphat, aged 45. Police instructed her to contact him and later intercepted him near his home in Soi Sanghasantisuk 14, Nong Chok, around midday.

When detained, Jiraphat was found with 114,840 baht in cash and the motorcycle used in the theft. He admitted to taking the money, telling police he was trying to raise funds for gambling and to settle debts. Officers returned the seized cash to the bank.

Authorities have charged Jiraphat with theft and are continuing the investigation to confirm what happened to the other stolen funds. Police stated that quick identification and cooperation from the suspect’s wife helped resolve the case rapidly.

online slot machines - why are the police not shutting these scam sites and apps down, not hard to trace, I wonder

Why wasn't the wife arrested as well...

Look at the facts in the story.

The wife goes outside to fill the ATM machine. At that instant? The husband drives up and takes the cash box from her and drives away, The identify the bike driven as belonging to her husband.

So, did she immediately tell the police her husband stole the box? Or did the police have to track down by using vdos who was the culprit?

Did the wife resist and call for help as he was snatching the box? How did he know to drive up at that exact time when she would be walking outside the bank to fill the cash machine?

There are too many things in the story that suggest the wife was in on the theft and aided in some way to allow her husband to do this.

I don't think his wife had anything to do with this at all.

A bank employee went out to top up an ATM.

yeah... my bad in misreading the OP.. The wife was registered to the bike and the husband had used it in the crime. The woman robbed was simply a bank employee

Not the brightest. Did he not think the bike registration would immediately identify him  as the thief?

What does "should of " [sic] mean...maybe you should have paid more attention in English lessons at school?

I'll comment on posts whenever I want, I don't need a semi-literate to tell me to read the entire thread before commenting.

Nothing pedantic in my comment, perhaps you should look up that word also.  You, very clearly, suggested that the entire thread should be read before commenting.
