Police and public health officials, on 3 October 2025, raided a private residence in Sawang Daen Din District, Sakon Nakhon Province, uncovering an unlicensed dental laboratory run by a 23-year-old woman. The suspect, who runs a TikTok account “Am.Retainer” with nearly 200,000 followers, produced and sold custom dental retainers without proper authorisation. Authorities seized more than 100 items of equipment and materials used in the production process.

The suspect posted videos showcasing brightly coloured and patterned retainers to attract customers, instructing them to send self-made dental impressions to her via mail. She then fabricated the retainers at her home and shipped them back to clients nationwide. Investigators found plaster moulds, retainer materials, grinding tools, UV curing equipment, brand stickers and completed retainers ready for dispatch during the raid.

The operation was coordinated by Dr. Manop Chaladthanyakit, Sakon Nakhon’s provincial public health officer, together with the Sawang Daen Din Police Station and local administrative authorities. The raid followed concerns about unlicensed dental practice and potential public health risks. Police charged the suspect with four offences: operating a medical facility without a licence, practising dentistry without a licence, selling orthodontic products in violation of consumer protection laws and disseminating false computer data.

Authorities emphasised the dangers of purchasing unauthorised retainers or orthodontic products online. The Sakon Nakhon Public Health Office warned that such products, manufactured without proper hygiene or professional oversight, could cause oral infections, permanent tooth misalignment, and exposure to harmful substances. Officials urged the public to use licensed dental services and not be misled by low-cost offers on social media.

The suspect has been taken into custody for prosecution, while officials continue to investigate potential wider distribution of unlicensed dental products. Public health authorities encourage anyone with related complaints to contact the Department of Health Service Support or their local public health office.
