Has anybody been there lately? We (my wife and I ) will travel to Thailand for a few weeks, and will continue to Japan for a few weeks. We have never been to Japan before. What would be the best time to visit? My Thai nephew did not really like Japan, but he went to Tokyo for work. So, any suggestions on where to go? Is Japan similar to Thailand? Traffic, pedestrian crossings. We live in the West but travel to Thailand very often, but never to Japan. We have travelled to a lot of countries in Europe, but never to Japan. Since being slightly handicapped and having trouble walking for a long time, do have shops lifts? Pls just give honest answers and don't bicker. Thanks in advance 

Probably the worst time in entire history to visit Japan due to over-tourism 

Never went there for holiday but plenty of times for work, been to all big islands, visited all the big cities over the years. Would not be a country for me I want to live in.  Would not be a country I would take my family for vacation due to pricing although my daughter is crazy about everything Japanese and Mangas and all the little cartoon merchandise etc. 

 

For holiday? Depends a bit what u r looking for. Shopping, electronics, craze, nightlife, lotsa food  etc. would be Tokyo.

Nice temples, old town etc would be Kyoto.

Colleagues of mine went to climb the Fuji and loved this experience

 

Best Sashimi ever I've had in Sapporo (Hokkaido) Quite liked the place, people seemed more relaxed, the air was fantastic, seafood quality was amazing. 

 

I mean it's not bad and certainly many beautful and interesting things to explore and experience ...But give me the choice between any SEA country and Japan for vacation.... Japan would loose...

 

And to answer your question: Its very much not like Thailand.

 

japan is cool, and apart from geographically nothing like thailand. extremely culturally interesting place, not out going but stylish, wonderful people - confident in who they are so don;t need to bang on about how great they are, amazing food, quality, quality quality everywhere, innovation, hard work, beautiful architecture, love and awareness of western culture, music, movies. wonderful place, not cheap but well worth a visit
