A 39-year-old man was found dead, on 7 October, at a rice threshing area in Ban Non Thongkham Charoen, Non Sa-at District, Udon Thani Province. The body was discovered with gunshot wounds and a deep head injury, approximately 10 metres from an elevated threshing shed. Police say the suspect remains at large.

Police were alerted at around 09:00 by local villagers who heard two gunshots near the scene. Officers from Non Sa-at Police Station, Udon Thani Provincial Police and forensic teams responded promptly. The victim, identified as Mr Thawatchai, was wearing a green long-sleeve shirt and black shorts and was found lying in a pool of blood near farming tools and his motorcycle.

Initial investigation revealed gunshot wounds to the face and chest and a deep head wound caused by a sharp object. A shotgun cartridge and a sickle were recovered nearby. The land where the incident occurred belongs to Mr Kongdej, 67, who was not at home and is believed to have gone to the mountainous border area with Khon Kaen Province.

Mrs Namfon, 36, the victim’s wife, said she had spoken to her husband earlier that morning when he told her he was going to the farm to collect cassava roots. She was later informed by villagers that her husband had been shot. She added that her husband had a history of drug use and had previously undergone rehabilitation and had ongoing disputes with neighbours.

Mrs Sudjai, the victim’s mother, said a relative reported hearing a man shouting threats earlier that morning. Police are now seeking Mr Kongdej to determine any involvement in the killing. The body has been taken to Non Sa-at Hospital for autopsy. Police are collecting evidence, including photographs of the scene and will continue their investigation. No arrests have been made.
