A man in Surat Thani fatally shot his wife, a nurse, inside their staff housing at a local hospital before taking his own life with the same gun early on 9 October. Police said the incident stemmed from jealousy following a heated argument between the couple, who had been married for more than two decades and had two children.

At around 07:00, Ban Na San Police Station received a report of a double fatal shooting at a two-storey hospital residence in Na San subdistrict, Surat Thani province. Police investigators, doctors and rescue teams arrived to find the bodies of Mr Thassakorn Siriwat, 44, and Mrs Namfon Daengnawa, 36, lying together on a bed in the ground-floor bedroom. The husband’s body was found on top of his wife’s, with both suffering gunshot wounds.

Mrs Namfon had sustained gunshot injuries to her cheeks, chest, abdomen and right hand, totalling more than ten wounds, while Mr Thassakorn had a single gunshot wound to the head. A 9mm pistol and several spent casings were recovered at the scene. Police believe Mr Thassakorn shot his wife multiple times before turning the gun on himself.

Witnesses told officers that the couple had been arguing loudly that morning. Mr Thassakorn, who worked independently, reportedly grew increasingly jealous of his wife in recent months, though no evidence of infidelity had been found. The pair had previously separated briefly before reconciling and Mrs Namfon had continued working at the hospital and both caring for their children.

A relative, Ms Supawinee Kaewkong, 33, said the couple’s relationship had been strained by the husband’s suspicions. On the morning of the incident, after dropping their youngest son at school, Mr Thassakorn went to his wife’s accommodation, where another argument erupted, leading to the fatal shooting.

Police suspect jealousy as the primary motive and are conducting further investigations to confirm the sequence of events. The bodies have been sent for autopsy and authorities will provide support to the couple’s two children following the tragedy.
