Bangkok authorities have announced a stricter enforcement of public smoking laws to safeguard residents and tourists from secondhand smoke. Health advocate Dr. Prakit Vathesatogkit and Chayanan Sithibusaya of the Tobacco Products Control Office met with Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt to address indoor air pollution caused by cigarette smoke. The move responds to long-standing gaps in the enforcement of anti-smoking laws first enacted in 1992.

Thaksin Shinawatra May Teach English in Prison

Thaksin Shinawatra, former Thai prime minister, may teach English to inmates while serving his one-year sentence at Klongprem prison, according to Corrections Department chief Prawut Wongsrinil. Given his age, he won't be assigned labor-intensive tasks outdoors. Instead, he might lead English classes on the prison premises, although no specific start date has been mentioned.

A newborn baby boy was found abandoned inside a hotel staff dormitory in South Pattaya on the morning of 10 October, prompting police and rescue teams to launch an urgent investigation to identify those responsible. The incident occurred at around 07.50, when Pol. Lt. Pakorn Prakobnun, deputy investigation officer at Pattaya City Police Station, received a report of an infant discovered at a staff accommodation building in Soi 18 South Pattaya Road. Rescue workers from the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation were dispatched to the scene immediately.

The update covers developments in Nong Chan and Nong Ya Kaew villages, involving crowd gatherings, unexploded ordnance (UXO) clearance and security deployments. A Thai man has been arrested by police after physically attacking a 50-year-old American man in South Pattaya, with the victim praising authorities for a swift arrest. The incident occurred at approximately 02:00 on 9 October 2025 in Soi 16, Pattaya Second Road and was captured clearly on CCTV. Fake Illness Insurance Scam Busted in Chiang Mai & Bangkok

Economic crime police have dismantled a fraud network accused of forging medical certificates to claim health insurance payouts online. The group, known as the “fake illness” or puay thip gang, allegedly produced counterfeit documents for false medical claims, defrauding insurance companies of hundreds of thousands of baht. Three suspects were arrested in coordinated raids on 9 October in Chiang Mai’s Doi Saket district and in Bangkok.

Drunk Driver Kills Teen in Sattahip Wrong-Way Crash

A 13-year-old boy was killed in Sattahip, Chonburi Province, t around 01:00 on 9 October 2025, when a drunk driver travelling the wrong way collided with his motorcycle. The crash took place on Sukhumvit Road near kilometre marker 2, leaving the victim dead at the scene.

The arrest of 31-year-old Kittiphat, alias “Games”, took place on 10 October 2025 at his girlfriend’s home on the outskirts of the city. Man Kills Brother-in-Law in Dispute Over  ฿1000 Debt

A violent altercation in Phu Wiang District, Khon Kaen Province, on 10 October 2025, left a man dead after a dispute over a small debt. Mr. Chumphon, 37, was arrested for fatally stabbing his brother-in-law, Mr. Jakree Chingnu, 31, following a confrontation at their family home. Jakree died en route to hospital after sustaining three stab wounds to his back.
