A 23-year-old Thai man was rescued by military rangers after suffering a cramp while attempting to illegally cross back into Thailand from Cambodia. The incident occurred at around 20:30 on 11 October 2025 along Khlong Phrom Hod in Aranyaprathet district, Sa Kaeo province.

Rangers from the Burapha Task Force, 13th Ranger Regiment and Patrol Unit 1304 were on foot patrol near Wat Khok Sabaeng when they heard cries for help from the canal. The man, later identified as Worathep, was unable to swim further and caught in strong currents, putting him at serious risk of drowning.

The patrol team acted quickly, swimming into the canal and providing him with a life vest. Worathep was safely pulled to shore without further injury. The prompt action of the rangers prevented a potential fatality.

Investigations revealed that Worathep, a resident of Si Sa Ket province, had crossed into Cambodia on 20 August 2025 to work in “mule accounts,” opening four accounts for facial scanning and money transfers. He earned USD 300 per month but was unable to continue after all accounts were frozen on 10 October 2025. Attempting to return home, he tried to cross the canal illegally, leading to the incident.

Following the rescue, Worathep was taken into custody by authorities and handed over to Khlong Luek Police Station. He faces legal proceedings for illegal entry into Thailand under relevant immigration laws.
