I remember seeing a lot of signs in Vang Vieng, Laos many years ago says 'No Israelis Allowed'.  We asked a couple of people why and they said it was common for Israelis, especially young people, to dine and dash or spend the night in a hotel and leave early in the morning. I don't know why the hotels didn't simply get payment in advance or require a passport, but whatevs.

Yes....bit of a no brainer......especially with young "backpacker" types.

Because you quite oddly mention the length of time that members have been a member on this one web board. Why?

What is odd about it?

Can you explain how it is relative to anything, in your opinion?

No one was criticizing Israel in this thread, they were only going on about how Jews Israelis were dirty, greedy, cheap, rude cheaters.

Haggling was one of the complaints out of Pai.

Locals complaining Israelis haggling for everything.

This restaurant has banned Israelis due to them eating and refusing to pay.

If most of the tourists there are Israelis, is boycotting Israelis such a good idea or will they go bankrupt?

Thais haggling in markets is quite annoying .

In my case, I am simply describing actual experiences and encounters. The descriptions are your perception. I'm not saying that your perception is off. But the people here aren't lying about what they have seen.

So if your perception of what you are being told is what you have written, it correlates that is the reaction of people who have seen what they have seen. I was disgusted by what I saw. It's natural.

What I am suggesting is that I understand your feeling, but you also need to understand that the people telling of their experiences are not lying. So you callling them names and dismissing their reality is always going to lead to disagreement. YOu have to respect that is what they saw and how they feel.

Worse still, none of the usual suspects ever condemn the poor behaviour. It's always..."What about the Muslims?" in an attempt to deflect. All this adds up to a feeling that we are dealing with totally immoral people. Stop denying and deflecting and perhaps think about if there really might be a problem.

Sure you did, after living in CM and CR. Back to the house you usually rent out. Or so you said anyway. Last time you wanted me to post personal information about you, it was deleted and I was warned by the mods. And rightly so, to be honest.:)

I don't recall anyone saying that

Total bull.
What percentage of Israeli tourists and expats in Thailand do you reckon aren't Jews? Surely they exist but obviously a very small portion. Everyone know we are talking about Jews.

and everybody but you apparently knows it was said in jest.

Personally, I would boycott any business with any such bigoted discrimination policy about anyone.

What's bigoted about banning people who, in the experience of those running the businesses, have shown a tendency to not pay their bills which is the reason for the bans?

Because they had a bad experience with some people in a group in no way justifies denying service to ALL people in a group. Do you SERIOUSLY not understand that?!?

I don't believe that you don't.

That said if it's legal in their locality then they have a right to do such bans, but personally I won't reward bigoted owners if I have any choice in the matter.

Perhaps my reaction is colored by having personal experiences approaching businesses with signs saying they won't serve my kind.

I'm not Israeli but I don't want to give money to any business banning any group. Obviously black listng specific individuals for their specific bad behavior is a completely different matter

Doubt any business would be worried by your lack of custom.

Are you surprised? It does come from one of the forums prominent instigators. Baiting "Jews" is considered acceptable in this forum.

They even top the Russians in rudeness. Just ban them from Thailand altogether. That is the beauty of Malaysia never have to worry about them causing problems.

Has nothing to do with the Jewish religion itself ! Just a gang of rude arrogant <deleted>. They NEVER smile ! Easy to spot !

Bizarre how some get all bent out of shape and triggered when people point out that Jews have been behaving badly. Why do these people think they should get a free pass? That the normally VERY tolerant Thais have resorted to this kind of thing is quite telling.

I find it annoying because the number of people implicated is insignificant. However, anytime one of them is involved, it elicits a mob response. On any given day, a Russian, or UK national is driving drunk or brawling, or an Australian or German is buggering a young boy or girl, or a Japanese or Korean is beating a prostitute, and Indian haggling with a ladyboy and so on. Yet, no one goes on a campaign of demanding they be kept out of Thailand or demanding that UK nationals not be allowed to drive in Thailand, or Australians forced to provide a  sex offence clearance certificate. We all know that these people are a small minority of their visitors. However, israelis get singled out because of the inherent bigotry of the old angry white men demographic. How about  Thailand not allow the entry of farang white males age 45 and older? It would reduce  alot of crime and  sex offences.

Get real. Your complaint is inconsistent with other petty generalizations. I was in a restaurant and and some old Europeans were busy grumbling that the Israelis laugh too loud. You sure you aren't confusing them with some other grouchy visitors like germans or Russians?  You know how you differentiate between an Austrian and German? The Austrians have a lively sense of humour.

Yes, it does, a private business can decide to exclude whoever they want from their business, particularly those who apparently have a reputation for non-payment. do you SERIOUSLY not understand that?  Whether YOU think it is justified or not is irrelevant to that private business's policy.
